"In the midst of chaos, find your peace. In the depths of despair, find your hope. And in the heart of darkness, find your light."

Third Person POV

As Wangji approached Wuxian with deliberate steps, Wuxian's grip tightened on the handle of the dagger, his knuckles turning white with tension.

"A-Ying," Wangji began softly, raising his hands in a gesture of surrender. "I surrender. My hands are raised for you."

"You're fooling me. What's your plan?... I know you have a plan," Wuxian retorted, his voice tinged with suspicion as he raised the dagger in his hand.

"I have only one plan, and that is for you to return to who you were," Wangji responded calmly. "That's all I want."

" Did you already forget, Weiying?  Did you already forget who you are? That Wuxian, who is brave yet kind... strong yet compassionate... the Wuxian who loved deeply.... but all it was gone because of me," Wangji continued, taking a step closer and lowering his hands.

"Forgive me, Weiying," Wangji pleaded as he approached Wuxian.

"Enough, enough... don't speak. I have something to do!" Wuxian exclaimed, a tear escaping his eye.

"What? Kill me?!" Wangji asked, continuing to advance. "Go ahead, kill me."

Trembling, Wuxian's hands holding the dagger shook as he stared into Wangji's golden eyes.

"If that's what you need to do to be back from who you were and heal, then go ahead, kill me!" Wangji urged.

"I will really kill you! Because I need to do this. I will kill you, Lan Wangji!" Wuxian yelled and stabbed Wangji in the abdomen.

Gasping, Wuxian looked at the blood staining the blade in his hands.

Wangji simply gazed at his beloved. "Before you completely do it," he said, holding Wuxian's wrist as the dagger remained lodged in his abdomen.

"For the last time, I want to say this to you. I love you, Weiying," Wangji whispered, releasing his hold on Wuxian.

"Go on, do it. Kill me now."

Wuxian's breathing was erratic as he pulled the dagger out of Wangji's stomach.

Confusion clouded his mind, unsure of what was stopping him from taking Wangji's life. He shook his head in disbelief, breathing heavily.

Wangji looked at Wuxian with hope, silently wishing for him to finally break free.

Glancing down at the dagger in his hand, Wuxian turned his back on Wangji and hastily departed.

Wangji stared at the blood on his hands before deciding to follow his beloved.

XiChen gracefully exited the inn, stepping out into the quiet streets, his gaze scanning the empty surroundings as he wandered, his thoughts consumed by the plight of his younger brother.

He longed for Wangji's intervention to help Wuxian break free from the grips of mind control, yearning for their reunion.

His sole desire was for the two to be reunited, for he couldn't bear to see his brother revert to his former self - cold, distant, and feared by all.

Wangji's isolation and lack of companionship weighed heavily on XiChen's heart, driving him to orchestrate the unlikely friendship between Wuxian and Wangji, knowing they complement each other in ways no one else could.
