AND ACTION!
"Baby's coming soon she said"
"What are you doing here?"
"I thought something might have happened to you this morning"
Duane turns and walks away with irritation
"Um I was looking for you. I mean I wanted you to be there but you know I understand. Something must've come up"
I sighed "Everything aight"
"I had to make a run for my dad"
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah!, Duane yelled. Look the delivery man didn't show so he needed me to go downtown for him to get umm...umm"
AND CUT
Duane, struggling with his lines, seems flustered as he repeatedly stumbled over his words. Sensing his frustration, I approach him with a warm smile.
"Do you need a hand with your lines, Duane?"
Duane, was caught off guard by my offer, responded brusquely, "I've got it under control, thanks". His tone was sharper than intended, leaving a moment of awkward silence between us.
"Well, you didn't have to be a jack ass about. Simply a polite no would've been fine".
I don't know why but I kind of find him cute, but he is such a jack ass.
Duane, snapped back defensively, "Look I don't need your help, Kiesha. I can handle this on my own".
Taken aback by Duane's sharp response, I stood my ground, "First of all you dumb motherfucker it's Tisha and I was only trying to assist, Duane. No need to be rude about it".
The air between us crackled with unresolved emotions as we exchanged heated words, our disagreement echoed through the set up til the crew came and separated us.
Sometime later we managed to finished filming without any arguing. I need to get out of her before I shove my foot up somebody ass. Amidst between Duane and me, I see Michael appeared on the set. Tichina must've told him where I was.
"Hey Mike, what are you doing here?"
"I came here to get you"
"For what?", I asked with curiosity
"Well, I was wondering if you like to hear one of the songs I'm working on for my Off the Wall", while trying to lighten the mood and distracting me from the argument from Duane earlier.
"I would love to", me being grateful for the interruption, I followed Michael, leaving the brewing conflict behind for a moment of musical escape until I see Duane walking our way.
"Ugh, what do you want Duane"
Swallowing his pride, "Tisha, I owe you an apology for earlier. I appreciate your offer help. And I was wondering if you like to go out with me?"
Being gracious as ever, I accepted his apology with a kind nod. And me being a fool of course I said yes for wanting to take me out. Then Duane tells me his gonna pick me up at around six and walks away. I blushed like a damn fool.
Michael, who has been observing the interaction, chimed in, "Tisha, be cautious with this one. Duane seems a bit sketchy to me".
With a mischievous glint in my eye, I teased Michael, "Oh, Michael, always the protective friend. Don't worry, I can handle myself".
At the studio
"So, what song did you want me to listen to?", I asked Michael.
"It's called rock with you I think you love it"
Girl, close your eyes
Let that rhythm get into you
Don't try to fight it
There ain't nothin' that you can do
Relax your mind
Lay back and groove with mine
You gotta feel that heat
And we can ride the boogie
Share that beat of loveI wanna rock with you (all night)
Dance you into day (sunlight)
I wanna rock with you (all night)
We're gonna rock the night away (rock, right)Out on the floor
There ain't nobody there but us
Girl, when you dance
There's a magic that must be love
Just take it slow
'Cause we got so far to go
When you feel that heat
And we're gonna ride the boogie
Share that beat of loveI wanna rock with you (all night)
Dance you into day (sunlight)
I wanna rock with you (all night)
We're gonna rock the night awayAnd when the groove is dead and gone (yeah)
You know that love survives
So we can rock forever, onI wanna rock with you
I wanna groove with youI wanna rock with you
I wanna groove with youI wanna rock (all night) with you girl (sunlight)
Rock with you rock with you girl (yeah) (all night)
Dance the night awayI wanna rock with you (yeah) (all night)
Rock you into day (sunlight)
I wanna rock with you (all night)
Rock the night away
Feel the heat feel the beat
Rock you into day (sunlight)
I wanna rock – rock the night away
(Rock with you was literally playing as I writing this💀)"Oh wow...this sound like a smash hit", I laughed
"I'm glad you liked it", he smiled
"No, I love it"
"Girl your crazy", he chuckled
"So, Tisha you and your sisters are not with Motown anymore when are you going to release your solo album"
"I don't know I mean I thought about it but I don't think I'm ready to go solo just yet"
"How come?"
"I mean what if the album doesn't do good or doesn't make it to the charts"
"If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything", Michael says to encourage me
"Thanks, Michael I appreciate that. Since we're talking albums what did you think of me and my sister album we released with capitol records"
"What's the name of the album again?"
"It's called Surrender"
"I really loved it especially the song Get up on it"
"Me too since I wrote it. Ever since we made that album it really showed the world we're not little no more and that we're grown women now. Not only that we can develop our style instead of all that girly stuff Berry had us doing. We transformed our image from delicate and feminine to confident and effortlessly cool.
"I can agree to that. When me and my brother were with Motown it was like Berry was keeping us and in that boy band phase and not letting us do anything creative"
As time went time Michael drop me off to my home. We said our goodbyes and told me once again to be careful with that Duane fellow.
