Y/n is wounded and lost with no communication with SHIELD
TW: canon typical violenceAgent Y/n was living undercover in Norway since the last 4 months. She was keeping track of illegal activities carried out by an unknown organisation. Fury had told her to join them and send their intel to SHIELD via files. There was a breach last time so she wasn't using any electronic medium of communication. The information SHIELD was getting was purely on paper.
Bucky and Sam were also a part of this operation. Sam's job was to collect and keep track of Y/n's information and Bucky was supposed to analyse it. The mission was official but wasn't discussed much as there was a chance people in SHIELD were involved. So it was just Sam, Bucky, Fury and Y/n.
_______________"Yes Jacob, I understood", Y/n told Jacob who was helping her put arms in a truck. They were supposed to deliver the guns and ammo to a remote warehouse. She had her suspicions because she was told to do it alone. She has always had company before so why alone now?
"Alright, you can leave now", Jacob said as he dusted his hands. Y/n nodded not to look doubtful but she asked, "Aren't you coming?". "I'm afraid not. You're going alone", Jacob replied and waved her goodbye. Y/n muttered an ok and walked to the driver's seat frowning. She didn't trust them but she had no other choice then to go, so she went.
She reached the location in 20 minutes and saw that it was really quite. There was no one to collect the parcel and it was almost night. Ignoring the bad thoughts, Y/n got out of the vehicle and went inside the deadly silent warehouse. She called the number she was given in case of emergency and it rang in the warehouse.
Her head shot to the noise but there was no one. Suddenly, a voice spoke through a speaker, "We know". Y/n's heart skipped a beat. She braced herself for the worse as there was a big chance that they were post-HYDRA. She immediately took out her gun and pointed in random directions as it was too dark.
And then there was a red dot on her torso, a sniper. All she could think of was to run away but then she saw a shadow of a person and blindly shot in the direction. Luckily it hit the sniper and she made a run. But the moment she reached outside, she was shot in her shoulder. Y/n fell and rolled behind the truck to get cover.
She couldn't take the truck because it would take too much time and she was already hearing footsteps. Y/n immediately put pressure on the open wound and tried to breathe properly. She spoke to herself, "Come on Y/n. You've had worse". The footsteps were near, it was fight or flight.
So she took the gun in her wounded hand and applied pressure on it with the other. She knew the sniper was walking this way so she aimed and the moment he walked in her sight, she shot him. The bullet hit his arm because her balance was off. He fell down and was still alive, so she slowly walked to him and shot him in the head.
Just at that moment Y/n heard vehicles approaching and without any delay, she hurried in the truck. She kept applying pressure on her wound and turned the truck around leaving the place as soon as possible. Y/n reached her house soon and patched herself up in a hurry, grabbing her emergency bag to leave this place. She immediately got in her car and left.
_______________The letters stopped. Sam had told Fury that Y/n was no longer sending information, no letters regarding her whereabouts. "The delivery comes once in a week but I haven't received anything since the last 4 weeks", Sam informed Fury and Bucky. "Any letters?", Fury asked and Sam shook his head.
Bucky sighed and asked, "Did you try writing her back?". "You think I didn't...she didn't reply. Should we worry?", Sam asked folding his hands. Fury thought for a while and said, "I think we should wait a little more, maybe she's in the middle of something and can't text back". Bucky's face said that he didn't agree.
"What if she needs us?", Bucky questioned the one eyed man. Fury shrugged and replied, "She's been there for months, she knows her way Barnes", he almost scolded him. "We should do something. What if they found out about her identity?", Bucky kept on asking them but none of them had any answers.
14 days passed and yet there was no delivery from Y/n. Bucky made all possible efforts to try and make contact with her but to no avail. There weren't any CCTV clips or phone call records, nothing. He was missing her, his concern was growing more everyday. She's been his partner in crime for so long. It almost felt like she was his kid.
Bucky brushed his hands on his face in frustration. He had already not seen her since almost 6 months, apart from the one selfie she sent in her letters. He grabbed it from his desk and smiled. She was showing her middle finger in the picture and when he flipped it, it said 'You all suck'. He smiled even more.
He kept it back on the desk and tried not to think of the worst. Steve always scolded her for flipping people off and Bucky just loved it. She was his best friend after Steve left and now she is gone too? Is she gone?
