Medicine

True Bennington POV

I looked at Don and who was munching on a French fry. It was covered in thousand Island salad dressing. Completely gross.

"So, what do you wanna watch now?" she asked, watching the end credits of Addicted.

"Let's watch hunger games: catching fire." I said, eating my own fries.

She put the movie on and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. I laid against her shoulder, laughing when she smelled my hair.

"Your hair smells like vanilla." she said, smelling it again.

"You're weird." I said between laughter.

My phone vibrated again. I picked it up and saw it was a text from Mando.

Mando: when you coming home?
Me: soon I'll be there before the dinner promise

I checked the clock. She wanted me home by 11. It's only 10:35. I'll be there around 11:30. Not to actually miss the dinner but make her think I am.

Don looked at me and sighed. She slowly removed her arm and went back to eating her disgusting fries.

"What's wrong?" I asked, feeling myself sigh and grow sad.

"You already know, True. This is hard. I don't like it! I feel like I'm sharing you with someone who doesn't deserve you and I'll be damned if I end up like another Lexington. I'm not a side chick but I'm trying to support you in this plan. I know that's yo technical girlfriend so I can't even be mad when she kisses you and touches you and gives you hickies but I am mad about, True." she said.

I straddled her waist, moving her fries to the table. "Don, I'm sorry. But you have something Mando lost and will never get back."

"And what is that?" Don asked, staring at my lips.

"My heart. I love you, Don. I'm in love with you. Over the past few months, we've gotten closer. And I've fallen for you. I love you and I'm in love with you. Not Mandolin or anyone else. So please bare with me. It's almost over." I said, holding her hands.

She looked down before kissing my nose. "Just know you better keep that promise because you have two weeks left."

I nodded, "I should go. I'll text you later."

I left her house and went home. It was only 11:18 so I wasn't as late as I wanted to be but it's fine. Late is late.

I walked inside to see a distressed Mandolin. She looked up and glared at me.
"You're late." she said.

I shrugged, "At least I'm here."

She didn't respond, just walked back into the room and slammed the door. I went to the table to see what she cooked. Baked chicken breast and a garden salad.

I made myself on a plate before settling on the couch and watching reruns of pretty little liars.

Mandolin was finally understanding how I was feeling. Understanding that she made me feel like that.

Mandolin Carter POV

I looked on the mirror. I looked terrible. My hair desperately needed to be retwisted and my eyes were red. I walked back into the room and checked the clock.

True had left an hour ago so I decided to go get some breakfast with Jay then get my dreads redone.

Me: IHOP or Dennys be ready in 10
Jay: Dennys

I finished showering before pulling on a pair joggers and t-shirt. I slid on my shoes before wrapping my hair back in a ponytail.

Pulling up at Jays house, I honked twice. He came out looking half sleep still.

"Wake yo ass up lucky charms." I said, and he glared at me.

I smiled at him. The first genuine smile I've had in forever. We arrived at Dennys and sat in a booth near the window.

We were right across the street from Sammy's. I couldn't help but watch the people who went in and out.

After ordering our food, I asked him about him and Avery.

"We good. Still dating." he said, yawning again.

"Why you so tired?" I asked.

"Avery made me go out with her and her crazy ass friends. They was out all night." he said, groaning.

"Was True or Don there?" I asked.

He shook his head. I frowned, that meant they were together again.

I looked out and tensed up even more. "Son of a bitch."

I watched Don and True enter Sammy's. Don had her arm around her shoulders and True was laughing and smiling.

I haven't seem her that happy in a long time.

It felt like I already lost her.

Donna Smith POV

I looked over at True. She was laughing uncontrollably at the lame pick up lines I was feeding her.

"Did you sit in a pile of sugar? Because that's a pretty sweet ass." I said.

She held her aching sides. She was crying from all the laughter she was doing.

"You're beautiful." I said, "All that laughing."

She blushed and her freckles were beautifully put on display. True looked out the window and she froze.

"Is that Mando's car?" she asked.

I looked over again. "Is she cheating again?"

True looked thoughtful before shrugging. "If she is, she isn't acting like it."

She looked again. I didn't need to know that Mando was walking over with some boy trailing behind her, looking dazed and exhausted.

"True." I said, and she nodded.

"I know. I know. Come on." she said, going outside first.

"True, what the fuck you doing here with that bitch?" she asked, stepping awfully close to True.

True pushed her back. "Don't fucking call her that. And I'm having lunch."

She frowned, "You could've called me. I would've had lunch with you."

True rolled her eyes, "I didn't want to have lunch with you."

Mando looked hurt. True touched her cheek softly and I felt my blood boil.

"True, I think our lunch break is over." I said.

True came back to me and I grabbed her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. Mando growled at me.

I stopped and looked at her with a nasty and evil glare, "Problem?"

"Yes bitch, you." she said, stepping up to me.

"Yeah there is a female dog here and the only one I see is you. So run along, go smell some ass, and listen to your master." I said, turning again and walking away.

"I should beat your ass." Mando said.

I flipped her a finger, "You could try but I'd beat your ass without breaking a nail."

True shook her head at me and got inside my car. I knew she was upset with me but I didn't like her having her hands on her.
