True Bennington POV

It's been about a whole year since I left Mandolin for Don. My life couldn't have been better. I now had a successful career with a loving fiancé.

That's right. Fiancé. She proposed on my birthday and it was romantic. Pretty candles, rose petals, my favorite foods, and favorite movies.

I looked in the mirror, watching the girl curl my hair with the wand. I now know my true self worth.

I was beautiful. I was smart. I wasn't perfect but I didn't have to be. She liked me and that's all that matters.

I assessed myself in the mirror when I was done. Curled recently dyed hair, my brown eyes shone with happiness and were outlined with thin eyeliner, my freckles were proudly on display, and my skin glowed radiantly with little makeup. My hair was now a fiery red color. It was Dons idea and I loved it.

I pulled on the outfit sitting on the table for me and heard my dressing room door open. I saw Don walk in and my heart instantly began beating three times faster.

She looked beautiful which wasn't unusual. Her hair was in a new set of faux dreads-her favorite hairstyle and she wore boys clothes.

Loose black jeans, white button up with a rainbow stripped bow tie, black blazer, and a black blazer. She looked so pretty. Her hair was down her back in pretty dreads.

I latched onto her in seconds. She smirked. "I missed you."

"I missed you more." I whispered against her lips.

She pulled away, smiling down at me. "I don't know why they separate us."

I laid my head against her shoulder and she wrapped her arms around me. The door opened and the manager rolled her eyes.

"Come on, you're on in five." she said, leading us outside.

I was ecstatic to be on the Nikki & Tiff Show. It was an honor to be on her show. Nicole "Nikki" Parker was a beautiful woman-a LGBT and black rights activist. She was a lesbian and her wife Tiffany "Tiff" Parker was her co-host. She was also a LGBT and black rights activist. They usually featured someone dealing with either of the two.

"Now we have two very special guest with us today! Two upcoming models and soon to be actresses- Don and True!"

Applause exploded and we went out onto the stage hand in hand. We smiled at the audience and sat on the loveseat across from Tiff and Nikki.

"It's go good to have you here." Nikki said, looking at us.

"It feels good to be here." I responded, looking at the audience.

"So, how are you guys doing?" Tiff asked.

"We're great." Don smiled.

"We heard you guys are engaged. Is that true?" Nikki asked, and I held up my left hand. The camera man zoomed in on the ring.

"Oh my gosh, how did it happen? Tell us everything!" Tiff gushed.

Don began speaking, "Well it was her birthday and she has been hinting about wanting to get married. Sending pictures of wedding cakes and dresses and such. So I decided to propose. She had a personal shoot on her birthday for a magazine and I decided to get the house ready. I laid down rose petals and lit candles. I made her favorite foods and had her favorite movies on the TV. While she was engrossed in her movie, I got on one knee and popped the question. She thankfully said yes."

Nikki looked thoughtful, "Do you have a set wedding date yet?"

"No but it will be in the spring of next year." I said, noting it was currently the end of November.

Tiff smiled, "We better be invited. Will you both be wearing dresses?"

Don nodded, "Of course."

"We heard that you're both starring in an upcoming film called Saving Serra." Nikki started.

"Is that true? What will it be about?" Tiff asked us.

Don nodded, "We both will be in the movie."

"Well, I was casted to play Serra and Don was casted to play Jo. Basically, Serra is a in the closet high school girl. But she falls for the popular girl and the girl outs her. She's then bullied viciously at school and her parents are split on the decision which lead to divorce. Her mother is against her being gay but her father supports her. She lives with her father but he works a lot and doesn't want to move away and lose his job so she's alone a lot and forced to go to the school where everyone hates you. Serra fell into depression and self harm. Then the new girl comes and she's Jo. She helps Serra stop her free fall." I told them.

"Wow, that sounds like a good movie. It will be such moving movie." Nikki said.

I nodded and Tiff looked down at her card. She smiled at the next question.

"Will a baby be in the upcoming future?" Tiff asked.

"No, not quite yet. We will be starting a family soon though." Don responded causing applause to erupt.

"How does it feel to be everyone's seemingly relationship goals? Straight or in the LGBT+ community?" Nikki asked.

"It feels amazing. Like we actually accomplished something by just loving each other." Don said.

I nodded, "I feel like we're knocking down barriers even if we aren't trying. By just being in love and meaning it, we're causing people to overlook our genders and want what we have because it's real."

Don kissed me and the audience awed. I smiled at her and took her hand in mine.

"Recently you did a spread in Coming Out about the recently passed supreme Court bill and were in a documentary focusing on the problems that LGBT face but aren't recognized such as domestic violence. You both received a lot of attention, both good and bad. How did it feel to be apart of that project and how did it feel when the bad attention was reflected on you?" Tiff asked.

"I felt so empowered to work on those projects." I stated.

"Me too, like I was making a difference in someone's life." Don said. "And we honestly don't care what people think. They can support us or not support us. I do not care what people think as long as I'm happy and my baby is happy."

I smiled again and felt myself blush. She kissed my forehead and the audience awed again.

"True you were quoted in the documentary, "I feel as if the bill passed is a step forward and a step back. I feel it is history repeating itself. African Americans have had many Supreme Court cases, amendments passed, laws passed, and yet we are still fighting for our rights. They weren't recognized even if the law said they exist. They were being oppressed. And I feel like that's gonna happen again to the LGBT community. That we have laws passed and have won Supreme Court cases but that doesn't mean we will be recognized. We will be oppressed and there is nothing we can do to stop it." Can you elaborate on this for us?"

I nodded, "You see in the past, especially down south, blacks weren't recognized despite the laws they had. They had laws to support them, to protect them, and everything yet they were beaten and oppressed by the people who took oaths to protect them. Now why wouldn't it happen to us? We now have a single law stating we can marry anywhere in the United States but the problem is, most states feel like this was a state level issue. Not a national one so if they want to oppress us and not let us marry then they will. No matter what the law says. If they want to beat us to death for trying to marry they will. They did it to the blacks despite the laws and they will do it to us no matter what the law says. It's sad but it's the harsh truth."

The audience applaud and I felt myself grow sad. I didn't say that for claps. I meant what I was saying. I meant every fucking word of it.

"Well, we will go on break but when we return we will continue our talk with Don and True." Nikki said.

"I love you." I told Don.

She kissed me, "I love you more."

I wrapped my arm around her chest and she smiled.

And the story is overrrrrr. I hope you like it. Next story will be Lucy's Life. Slow updates due to busy schedule.
