Ending It
Lexington Wells POV
I brushed through the hair in front of me then went to the next piece with the flat iron. I hadn't even bothered to strike up a conversation.
"So Lexington, how are you?" she asked.
I froze. Who the was this?
"Um, how do you know my name?" I said, I looked down to see my name tag still said Lex.
"You don't recognize me?" she asked, turning to look at me.
"Holy shit, sorry I totally spaced out. What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Needed my hair done. I grew tired of the crinkly mess it was." she said, sending me a smile. "So, how are you?"
"I'm great, how are you?" I responded, continuing on her hair.
"I'm good, can't keep you out of my mind though." she said and I stopped.
"What?" I asked, dumbfounded.
"I don't know why but I've been thinking about you like a lot lately." she responded, "And I can't for the life of me figure out why."
I didn't know what to say. I sprayed her hair with the oil free shine spray and finished off her head. Neither of us spoke another word for the reminding time she sat in my chair.
"Thank you." she said, running her fingers through her tangle free hair.
"No problem." I said, watching as she handed me the money she owed.
She pressed her lips to my nootk, letting them linger. "Call me later. And not just for a booty call."
I didn't have any words. I just nodded and watched her ass she made her way out the shop. I heard a low whistle and saw Ben had turned towards me.
"Girl, you better get on that. She way better than that cheating little stud you was dating or whatever you wanna call it." He said, turning back to the girl hair he was currently doing.
He was right. I thought watching the next girl come sit in my chair.
"Can you touch up my dye? My roots have grown out." she said, showing me her blonde rights that stood out badly against her light blue hair.
L A T E R
Going home, I walked inside and sat on the couch. I was absolutely astonished. I didn't know what to think.
I knew for certain I couldn't get back with Mando. She lied to me. A terrible lie. And then she left to go back to True. I was sad but I was also happy because I passed another chapter in my life. I gained some more experience. Desperately needed experience.
I got up and gathered my courage. I hit call by Angels name. She answered almost immediately.
"Lexington?" she asked.
I cleared my throat, "Yeah, it's me."
"I was hoping you'd call." she said.
"Yeah well I was thinking about it and decided to call you." I said.
"Well what you doing? We should link up, go to dinner or something." she said.
"Alright, where you wanna go?" I asked.
"I'll surprise you. Be ready in an hour." she said, ending the call.
I rushed around, getting into the shower and getting out. I looked for something to wear. Should I look dressy? Casual? No, I should combine them both.
I pulled on a blue floral dress and grabbed the tan rope braid sandals. I looked at my hair and saw it was slightly frizzy. I sprayed it with oil sheen and brushed through it quickly. I brushed my teeth and finished my look with a hint of eyeliner and clear lip gloss.
"You can do this Lexington. She likes you for you and I don't think she has a girlfriend. So she ain't making you her little side piece again." I told myself.
Two knocks sounded on the door and I pulled it open. I frowned.
"Mandolin May Carter, why are you at my door?" I asked.
"I-i just-i don't know." she said, her eyes roaming my body. "You look nice, where are you going?"
"On a date so if you don't mind, could you leave." I said, grabbing my purse.
"You already moved on?" she asked stepping into the threshold.
"Get out, Mandolin!" I screamed, backing away from her.
She grabbed my waist and brushed her lips against my cheek. I froze. She smelled so intoxicating. She brushed her lips against mine.
Then I caught sight of it. The smeared red lipstick on her cheek. I pushed her away.
"Don't touch me!" I said, "Once a cheater
Always a cheater."She stepped back from me and looked down. "I'm sorry, True just been pushing me away more and more."
"I don't care. That gives you no right to come back and try to use me again. Please go away." I said, stepping around her.
Angel was standing in the doorway, smiling at me. She looked beautiful in the yellow crop top with the cut out back and black skirt. "Ready to go?"
I nodded, "Mandolin get out of my apartment and never come back."
She hung her head and walked out. She looked back and held her hand out towards me. "Please Lexington. I need you."
"What? You need me to be your side chick again? So you can come over here and use me and take your anger out on me? No I refuse. I'm better than that." I said.
Angel smiled at me. She walked into my apartment and grabbed my hand. Mandolin walked downstairs into her car and slammed the door.
I looked over towards Angel who looked amused. "Sorry for the drama."
"Don't be. I'll never make you a side chick by the way. You're far too beautiful for that." she said, kissing my hand leaving a red smudge.
True Bennington POV
I sighed and picked at the leftover salad. I was seriously upset with Don. She can't just start a fight for no reason. That's not okay.
I looked at my phone and saw she had texted me again.
Don: I'm sorry
Don: True, seriously I'm sorry
Don: you're being overdramatic. I said I'm sorry
Don: I can't do this...
Don: we need to talk. Meet me at my house in an hour.I suddenly wished I never even got mad at Don. I didn't want her to leave. The plan was almost finished now. She can't leave now.
I arrived at her house a little before the hour. I knocked on the door. She moved aside and let me in.
"Don, please don't leave me." I said.
"I can't do this." she said. "You have to make a decision."
"Don't make me choice." I begged.
"Me or the plan?" she asked.
