It took roughly ten minutes for the police officers to grab what they needed and signal to Sandy and Patrick that they were ready.

The two of them said nothing to each other, things all of a sudden feeling rather conclusive. They exited the building and one of the police officers held open the door for the two of them to get in the vehicle.

That same silence lingered during the drive there, Sandy only speaking once to someone in order to give them directions to SpongeBob's pineapple on the other side of town.

Once they had arrived, she wondered if bringing the police straight to his home would be obvious to whoever was doing all this, but figured it was far too late now as sirens blared all around them.

Sandy and Patrick had been fidgeting the entire drive, and as they stepped out of the car, things only got worse. Knowing what they were about to see again put a weight on Sandy's chest. Patrick felt awfully nauseous all of a sudden.

The police had now made a formation outside of SpongeBob's front door that braced them for any situation. One of them, a larger fish with dark hair, stepped forward and banged on the door twice.

"POLICE! SEARCH WARRANT! OPEN THE DOOR!" He yelled. The other officers remained straight-faced as Patrick wanted to cup his ears.

There was no response. "POLICE! SEARCH WARRANT! OPEN THE DOOR!" He said once again. After a minutes silence -- which felt like forever to Sandy and Patrick-- he signaled a few others nearby to grab the necessary equipment to open the door themselves.

There were a few movements of the pry bar, and the door was open. It opened so silently it was as if the house was warning them to retreat. But none of them listened.

Sandy stood behind the first officer who entered SpongeBob's house, Patrick following behind in the back. Although she had no weapon of her own, she was fully prepared to face this monster with all of her physical strength and abilities.

But as Sandy entered and looked around SpongeBob's perfectly normal home, she could have sworn her heart stopped beating.

It was as if this was an entirely different house compared to where she and Patrick had been a mere few hours ago. The previously obvious blood stain that lined the floor was now nowhere to be seen. And the pieces of Squidward--- those were gone as well.

Sandy stood there, the shock more than visible on her face. She choked on her words as the sentence left her mouth, "But--- we were just here..." She turned to face the officer in front as the others poured in the room, each of them just as confused as Sandy.

"And where exactly is the scene you mentioned earlier?" He stared into her eyes firmly and asked again, "Is this some sort of joke to you?"

She tried her best, but Sandy couldn't find the words to say. Patrick was there; there was no way it had all been in her head. It seemed as though it was all some horrible nightmare that felt too real to be true.

Then she remembered. "The door!" she exclaimed, ignoring both the officer's question and his growing impatience.

Sandy bolted over to where the door with the unfortunately squeaky handle was. The door that had been locked earlier. Since the police were now here, surely they would be able to open it and figure out who exactly is the monster behind this mess.

Her face grew pale the moment she realized the door was gone.

"I--," she stuttered, turning to face the few officers who now took up a large amount of SpongeBob's living room. "It has to be around here somewhere."

There was simply no way... no way the door from earlier had simply disappeared. Sandy paced around the house, checking other areas to see if there was some sort of answer to her growing questions.

"We were just here," she started, taking note of the officers now lowering their once readied weapons. There was blood right here," she pointed to the floor as she walked forward, "and the door--- the door was locked, but it was here." Her voice got louder and louder as she spoke, the anger and confusion she felt rising with every passing moment.

The head officer let out a sigh and walked over to meet Sandy eye-to-eye. "Listen, ma'am," he began, "sometimes when you don't get enough oxygen, you can see some really weird things--"

She cut him off before he could continue, "Are you saying because I'm a land mammal and have to breathe oxygen, I simply imagined all that stuff here? Are you out of your mind? My friend was just here with me," she lifted a finger to Patrick who now stood close to the door, "and last time I checked, he breathes underwater just fine."

Turning a back to him was the only thing she could do to stop the tears from sliding down her face. She was so confused, and none of her questions had been answered.

"There's nothing else we can do here, miss."

I know, Sandy thought. She had felt like the crazy squirrel in town everyone thought her to be.

The police said nothing as they exited, Sandy and Patrick following shortly after.

"Let's get out of here," Patrick said, gently putting a hand to her back.

They heard the door shut behind them as they walked out, Sandy staying silent as her thoughts overpowered any ability to speak.
