As one door closed, another one opened.
SpongeBob peered through the hidden door he had set up after Sandy and Patrick's little visit. A slight chuckle escaped his lips. One of madness or humor, it was hard to tell.
Things were going awfully well for SpongeBob. He had his lover tied up and, besides from the occasional tantrums he threw, it was manageable as long as SpongeBob reminded him of his place.
That was something necessary he had to do today. One could say Squidward's punishment began the moment the axe hit his limbs, but the rest was just starting. SpongeBob had much greater things in store for his beloved.
He took his time with each step down the staircase, feeling more joyful than ever at the way his plans were unfolding. Despite the minor hurdle, no thanks to Squiddly, he thought, things were right where he wanted them to be.
It felt as if all of that happiness shattered the moment he saw Squidward trying to get out of his bindings once again. His eye twitched at the sight, nearly teleporting in front of Squidward with un-spongely speed. Squidward let out a yelp in surprise.
"After all I've done for you...." SpongeBob began itching his neck, "you still want to leave me?"
Squidward kept silent, not doing anything in hopes of SpongeBob calming down on his own. No matter what he said, he was sure something bad would happen to him.
"You're not ready," he said once. "Not ready, not ready not ready..." he mumbled to himself, his neck turning red with blood from the animalistic itching.
The words reverberated through Squidward's skull. He closed his eyes in fear, though the beatings from earlier made that rather easy for him. The pain he was experiencing was far worse than he'd ever imagined.
His clothes were as red as SpongeBob's eyes, the rips making his pants loose enough to nearly fall off of him.
Certain parts of his body had been sliced off and left behind after the first blow to his head. He was grateful, nonetheless, for being excused from experiencing that torment while conscious. Still, the after-pain did him no favors.
Since the moment Squidward awoke once more, the pain was never-ending. Every movement caused him to wince in pain. There was no way he would be able to try and escape again.
Squidward knew he had been blinded by the heavenly idea of escape, later realizing that it may have been a trap all along. A test. And he failed it with flying numbers.
SpongeBob spoke again, and Squidward watched the smile evolve on his face, "You want to go outside so bad?" he walked into an adjacent room, moments later coming out with a garbage bag. A garbage bag that looked far too familiar.
"Fine by me."
Squidward's felt his blood turn cold, unable to move whatsoever.
He watched as SpongeBob pulled out a deceased Mr. Krabs. His eyes had been sewn back onto his head, but the color was completely drained from his body. He had been rotting in that bag for days, the smell hitting Squidward like a slap across the face.
Unsure of what exactly SpongeBob had in mind, Squidward still flinched as he came closer, untying his restraints.
A sigh of relief left Squidward, but it was short-lived as SpongeBob grabbed him and started ripping off his clothes, one by one.
That was when he noticed the exoskeleton of Mr. Krabs sitting on the table beside him, empty and ready for whatever sick game SpongeBob had in store.
"No..." Squidward started putting the pieces together, the cold air hitting his now naked body like lightning. "No...no, please!!!" His breathing became uneven, but SpongeBob did nothing as he grabbed his arms and legs in one swift movement, lifting him up towards the rotting exoskeleton.
"Please..," Squidward rasped, "I'll do anything... You want me to love you? Fine! I love you! But please..."
It was as if SpongeBob's silence only made him more deadly. Squidward winced in pain once more before he was lowered inside of Mr. Krab's dead exoskeleton. He admired his body in its glory.
"You're so beautiful," he whispered into Squidward's ear. A groan from Squidward made him chuckle under his breath.
"Perfect timing for that to come off of him," SpongeBob said, the smile plastered on his face, "not that I couldn't have made something else work if need be."
Squidward imagined what he would have done in that case, but quickly shut out the image. The inside of a Krab's exoskeleton looked anything but pleasant. It was obviously not made to be lived in.
Still pushing Squidward into the shell, SpongeBob talked over the screaming, "You've made things very difficult for me, Squiddly." His legs were what went through first.
"Thanks to you, people are getting suspicious. Now we have to do something about that."
'We?' Squidward wondered if it was a good or bad thing that he would be involved, bit figured it was the latter.
"Because of your little stunt, I have some more people in need of disposal." His arms went through next.
No..., Squidward thought. Because of him, more people were going to die. Because of him and his failed attempts at freedom.
"Still, I thought Sandy would be smarter, knowing her," he let out a light chuckle, "Patrick, well, that makes perfect sense. Maybe some of his stupidity rubbed off on her."
Squidward's eyes went wide. Sandy and Patrick? His memories returned to him like a flood. They were at his door calling SpongeBob's name...
He screamed and screamed. Squidward was fully convinced hell itself would be better than this nightmare. If anyone could hear him...
Inside the exoskeleton, something squished with every movement he made, and Squidward had to swallow his puke as it creeped up his throat. Despite his voice becoming hoarse from the yelling, Squidward continued.
SpongeBob put his hands to his ears, "Enough," he said once, but Squidward did not listen.
"Enough," he repeated. Squidward thought his vocal cords would erupt at any moment.
It was until SpongeBob brought out those same surgical instruments once more when Squidward's screaming weakened. He watched as SpongeBob fiddled with a needle and thread that lay out on the table.
"I thought this might be a problem," he admitted. Squidward's breath hitched as he moved forward.
"Don't worry! After today, you'll be able to make all the noise you want." He winked eerily at Squidward, who was far too horrified to think about that statement.
And Squidward, who was already restrained by Mr. Krab's crushing exoskeleton, was completely and utterly helpless as SpongeBob inched forward.
Cupping his face, SpongeBob raised the needle and thread. And slowly-- ever so slowly, he began sewing his mouth shut.
Squidward gripped SpongeBob's wrist as hard as he could with his depleted strength, and could have sworn SpongeBob groaned in response.
Squidward's screams started as a roar, but only got quieter and quieter as SpongeBob completed sewing. Blood poured from his lips and tears from his eyes.
No matter how much he tried, he couldn't open his mouth. He had no choice but to weep in silence as the fowl scent of his dead boss filled his nose.
At last, SpongeBob finally spoke, "Are you ready for work, my little cephalopod?"
