The morning sun cast long shadows over the battle-worn city of Tokyo, a deceptive calm settling over the streets. Miyako moved through the aftermath of the recent conflict, her senses alert and her mind racing. The city was still reeling from the coordinated assault, but the jujutsu sorcerers had managed to thwart Suguru's plans for the time being. Now, they had to regroup and prepare for whatever came next.

As Miyako made her way through a narrow alleyway, her mind was occupied with thoughts of their next move. The intensity of the previous night's battle had taken its toll, but there was no time to rest. The fight was far from over, and Suguru was still out there, planning his next move.

Suddenly, she felt a familiar, unsettling presence. Her heart skipped a beat as she turned the corner and found herself face to face with Suguru. He stood at the far end of the alley, his dark eyes meeting hers with a mixture of surprise and amusement.

"Suguru," Miyako said, her voice laced with tension. "Didn't expect to see you here."

Suguru smirked, his gaze unwavering. "The feeling is mutual, Miyako. I thought you'd be too busy cleaning up my mess to pay me a visit."

Miyako's grip tightened around the hilt of her cursed weapon. "I'm here to put an end to your plans, Suguru. This ends now."

Suguru's smirk faded, replaced by a look of determination. "If you think you can stop me, you're welcome to try."

Without another word, they launched into battle. Miyako moved with practised precision, her strikes aimed to incapacitate and capture. Suguru countered with equal skill, his attacks calculated and deadly. The alleyway became a battleground, the air crackling with cursed energy as their techniques clashed.

As they fought, Miyako's phone rang, the sound piercing through the chaos. She deflected a strike from Suguru and quickly glanced at the screen. It was Satoru.

"Answer it," Suguru said, a sly grin on his face. "I'm curious to hear what your brother has to say."

Miyako hesitated for a moment before answering the call, keeping her eyes locked on Suguru. "Satoru, what's going on?"

"Miyako, it's bad," Satoru's voice was urgent. "Someone has taken all the civilians in Shinjuku hostage. They're demanding our immediate surrender and the release of all captured operatives."

Miyako's heart sank. "Who is it? Suguru's forces?"

"No," Satoru replied, his voice filled with frustration. "It doesn't match Suguru's usual tactics. We think it's an inside job, a traitor within his ranks."

Miyako's eyes flicked to Suguru, her expression hardening. "Did you know about this?"

Suguru's smirk faded, replaced by a look of genuine surprise and anger. "Hostages? That's not my plan."

Miyako studied him for a moment, her instincts telling her he was telling the truth. "Then who is it?"

Suguru's eyes darkened. "It has to be Kenji, my right-hand man. He's been growing increasingly unstable and ambitious. I never thought he'd betray me like this."

Miyako clenched her fists, anger boiling within her. "We need to stop him. Those civilians' lives are at stake."

Suguru nodded, a rare look of determination on his face. "Agreed. For now, we work together."

---

Miyako and Suguru moved swiftly through the city, their temporary alliance fuelled by the urgency of the situation. As they approached the area where the hostages were being held, they could sense the malevolent energy emanating from the building. The atmosphere was tense, every shadow a potential threat.

Kenji, Suguru's traitorous lieutenant, stood at the centre of the hostage situation, his eyes gleaming with madness. Civilians were huddled together, fear etched on their faces. Cursed objects littered the area, creating a deadly web of traps and barriers.

"Kenji!" Suguru shouted, his voice filled with fury. "This wasn't part of the plan!"

Kenji turned, a manic grin spreading across his face. "Ah, Suguru. You've finally come to see things my way. These people are leverage, and with them, we can control the city."

Miyako stepped forward, her eyes blazing with determination. "Release them now, or we'll make you."

Kenji laughed, his voice echoing through the room. "You and what army? Suguru's lost his edge, and you're just a distraction."

Without warning, Kenji unleashed a barrage of curses, the air crackling with dark energy. Miyako and Suguru moved in unison, deflecting the attacks and pressing forward. The battle was intense, every move calculated and deadly.

As they fought, Miyako could see the desperation in the eyes of the hostages. She had to end this quickly. She channelled her energy, focusing on breaking through Kenji's defences. Suguru, equally determined, unleashed his own powerful techniques, their combined strength pushing Kenji back.

But Kenji was prepared. With a sinister grin, he activated a hidden curse, causing the ground beneath Miyako to collapse. She fell into a deep pit, cursed energy crackling around her, trapping her in a deadly embrace.

"Miyako!" Suguru shouted, his eyes widening in shock.

Miyako struggled to free herself, but the cursed energy was too strong. She could feel it draining her strength, her vision blurring as darkness closed in around her. Desperation clawed at her, but she refused to give up.

She reached for her phone, her fingers trembling as she tried to contact the higher-ups for help. Her message was met with cold indifference, their voices dismissive and uncaring.

"You're on your own, Miyako," the voice on the other end said. "We can't risk our resources on a lost cause."

Miyako's heart sank, her hope fading. She could feel the cursed energy tightening around her, squeezing the life out of her. She closed her eyes, tears of frustration and despair slipping down her cheeks.

Is this how it ends? She thought, her mind filled with the faces of her friends and family. Satoru, Nanami, Utahime—everyone she had fought alongside. She had to believe they would find a way, even if she couldn't be there to see it.

As the darkness closed in, Miyako made a silent vow. She would fight until her last breath, for the people she loved and the city she had sworn to protect.

---

Suguru's eyes blazed with fury as he confronted Kenji, the sight of Miyako's fall fuelling his rage. "You've gone too far, Kenji."

Kenji laughed, his madness evident. "It's too late, Suguru. This city will fall, and I'll be the one to rebuild it."

With a roar of anger, Suguru launched himself at Kenji, their battle resuming with renewed intensity. The fate of the hostages, and the city itself, hung in the balance.

---

In the pit, Miyako's strength waned, but her resolve remained unbroken. She could feel the cursed energy tightening its grip, her breath coming in ragged gasps. But she refused to give in. She had to believe that help would come, that she wasn't truly alone.

As her vision darkened, Miyako's thoughts drifted to her brother. Satoru, I'm sorry.

And then, everything went black.
