Arius POV

During the week in which I couldn't get out of my bed, I was able to write down everything I know about this world and my family. At last, I figured out I was in one of the novels I've read in my past life.

The novel's title was 'Just like my twin'. It was about a duke's daughter who was kidnapped during her infancy.
The story began with her father, the duke finding her on her ninth birthday. He brings her home, but neglects her and constantly compares her to her twin brother who had died two years prior due to a mana outburst.

Her older siblings also start to bully her and treat her like dirt. She later learns from the servants of the duchy -who were sensible enough to not neglect or bully her- that she was kidnapped from her nursery and the duke only managed to save her brother who later died of a mana outburst.

She manages to get Ophelia, both her mother's and brother's trusted maid before their deaths, to spill out all the details about both her brother's life and death. Finding out that her brother -whom she found out was named Arius- had been receiving the same treatment from their 'family' as her and had actually looked forward to meeting his twin, she starts to detest her so-called family.

She lays low for a while and gets into the Imperial Academy in the elven kingdom Thanasis after her debut into high society. There, she finds out that her late mother was actually the 3rd princess of Thanasis, and builts connection to her maternal side of the family. She manages to get adopted by them and cuts ties with the duchy. In the end she becomes Arielle Minerva Thanasis and gets married to Alver Caspian Whitlock, the young duke of the Thanasis kingdom.

I was reborn as that twin in the title. And sadly, the title doesn't refer to anything other than the way she was treated in the duchy. And I realized, I was supposed to die before I woke up and my 'family' didn't even come to visit me while I was unconscious. 'THOSE BASTARDS DIDN'T EVEN LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES AND DARED TO TREAT MY TWIN LIKE THAT!'

Needless to say, I was enraged.

As for my opinion on the book, I really liked it. The heroine wasn't trying to justify anyone's wrongdoings against her. She was smart enough to leave the duchy in favor of her caring maternal family, got married to a respectful, loving and loyal man, instead of the first love interest-the crown prince- who would constantly play around with other women while they were engaged, and honored the death of her beloved twin whom she never met, but loved regardless.

I just think she left her 'family' off the hook too easily. They didn't suffer the consequences of their actions at all. All they got was a little bit of humiliation from the heroine choosing her mother's family over them. But since I didn't die due to the outburst, I suppose I could cover that issue and shield my sister from their pathetic pity party.

I'm the heroine's dead twin... nice! (BL)Where stories live. Discover now
