Arius POV

When I woke up, I found myself in my room. I felt the bed dipping on my left and when I looked, I saw Ophelia sleeping peacefully with her head next to my shoulder 'She looks adorable. I wonder how she'll react when I ask her to call me Ari, let alone when I call her big sis. It's not like there's anyone else I could refer as such.'

I started caressing her hair, after which she started to wake up. "Morning, big sis!"
[...]
"YOUNG MASTER, you can't just call me that-?!"
"Why not? It's not like there's anyone else to refer as such. Besides, I couldn't imagine a better big sis than you!"

These were my genuine feelings. What has Lucia ever done to deserve being given such a title? Why would I waste such a lovely title on a bigger waste? The only people who deserve the title of family in this cursed 'family' are Ariel and my mom. The others are just my sperm donor and two strangers who happened to come out of the same loins as me, in a much earlier date. Two very unlovable strangers, might I add.

"If that's what you want, I'd be honored to be your big sis, youn-"  "Ari!"
"Sorry?" "Call me Ari from now on! And I want you to be Elle's big sis too, when she comes!"
"Elle?" "My baby sis, silly!"

'It's such a relief to act like a child again. After regaining my memories I kind of forgot about the fact that I'm actually still seven. My brain is still young, and to be honest, regaining my memories just felt like watching a very long and emotional movie. Just in case you readers had any questions about my behavior.'

"Of course, Ari. It'd be my pleasure."
"That's good. By the way, do you know how long we've been sleeping for?"

Big sis checked on her pocket watch, nodding slightly. "It's been around three hours, it's 13 o'clock. Four hours after breakfast. Would you like me to bring you some snack?" "I'd like to have some bruschettas please."
"Alright, I'll be right back." "Ok."

After she left, I went over to my book shelves to look for a book to read. Thankfully, I have enough authority to request for books I'm interested in, without asking for permission. Ofc, I don't request for anything inappropriate (and I'm not planning to.) I have A LOT of books like mystery, thriller, horror, history, romance, etc. My nerdy side was reborn with me, I guess. Meh, who cares?

I finally got myself a book about a war general who was especially good at strategizing. It didn't get into things like romance and family drama. It played during what the people in my old world would call a 'WWI'. The main character, the general, is burdened by guilt because of the amount of people he's sending to death with his strategies, especially knowing that the war was actually his kingdom's fault, which they started by massacring the people in a town by a river with great magical qualities. At the time of the massacre, the main character is the 14 years old son of a previous war general.

The story dives into the consciousness of the mc, while he confronts a dilemma of letting thousands of people die by serving under the king, or start a revolution against the tyrant king, whom he swore his loyalty to, and stop the war, which may cost him the lives of a good portion of his people, whom he swore to protect at any cost.

We follow him while he slowly loses his sanity and will to live. At the end, he betrayes the king by going walking to his death.
He sneaks into the enemy base and threatens the enemy king. He is then captured and tortured to get information, which he easily gives. After weeks of torture, he gets dragged to his own execution by his hair. The enemy king 'rewards' him by telling him he'll honor the general's final wishes, as long as it doesn't hurt his kingdom.

The mc acknowledges the enemy king as a good ruler and says; "Go win the war with the information I gave you, but don't hurt my innocent citizens who are but keeping their families safe. The people you want the heads of are the king and the other generals."

I'm the heroine's dead twin... nice! (BL)Where stories live. Discover now
