TW: little mentions of relapse

"Daddy!"

"Daddy!"

Rin's yells were heard throughout the house, Daryl was still in bed, and he was exhausted, but even morning was always something different when it came to Rin. As right now, the two year old was standing next to his bed, waiting for Daryl to get up and feed her.

Daryl groans and tries to bury his face into the pillow, but Rin's little hands are pulling at the blanket and trying to climb up the bed.

Daryl glanced at her and chuckled, "Baby, what are ya doin'?"

"Ty to get up!"

Daryl laughed at her mispronouncing words. She was doing great for a two year old, though, only because Daryl was teaching her how to say new and correcting her words every day. Daryl sits up and picks Rin up and sits her on his lap, giving her her usual morning kisses and hugs.

"Did ya sleep well darlin'?" Daryl asked, and Rin nodded with a loud, 'Yeah!'.

The two eat bacon and sunnyside-up all while the small TV was on the kids channel of TreeHouse, her favorite show was playing, it was Toot & Puddle. Daryl never understood the concept of any kids' show, and it sometimes would scare him with what was on that channel.

Daryl's views of the shows didn't matter as long as Rin was calm and occupied while he would tidy up a bit while she ate or just watched TV in the living room.

After breakfast, Rin went straight to her room and picked out her clothes, Daryl would help her get dressed but always let her pick out her own clothes, surprisingly she always had a good combination to wear and not just some random clothes that didn't go together. That's something Daryl was always surprised at, but happy about.

"A'right darlin' is this what ya want to wear today?" Daryl asked once he saw the clothes.

"Yeah!"

"Okay then, let's get changed then." Daryl said.

He picked up a blue shirt that had a deer on it. It was a boy's shirt, but neither Rin nor Daryl cared, Rin always had trouble putting on shirts, but sometimes she would get it on herself. Then Daryl picked up muted green shorts (that were once again for boys) and mixed matched socks.

"There ya go, baby. Yer ready for the day!"

Rin yells in excitement and runs out of her room and what Daryl assumes to the living room for the TV. Daryl just chuckles and informs Rin of him being in the backyard, working on his bike for the morning.

Rin didn't care so much as she was watching Toopy & Bino now. Daryl had walked back in a few times to Rin singing the intro and playing with her stuff bunny that her mother gifted her on her second birthday. (It was a day late, but she managed with her savings.)

Rin loved the bunny, and Daryl was thankful to Bethany for trying.

Soon, Daryl was finished working on his bike and had prepared lunch for Rin, though it was disturbed when a loud gun shot was heard and people yelling.

"Daddy!"

Rin wasn't new to this. She knew her neighbors were rough. It's the only reason she wouldn't go outside without Daryl.

Daryl went straight to a crying Rin and holding her, "There there, baby, no one's gonna hurt ya." Rin still cried into his chest. Daryl knew she wasn't scared of the gun shots. She was the loudness of the shots.

It was always the loudness.

"It's a'right baby girl, the noise is gone now." Daryl said softly, caressing her hair back, wiping away her tears, "No more cryin' a'right, Rin? Ya don't need to cry anymore."
