Shawn Donnelly
~~
He woke up in his room. He had no idea how Xane’s men had done it but he woke up right in his room. He was shirtless and his pants were dirty but he was lying in bed.

As he struggled to get up, but his head protested against it, ringing relentlessly in his ears. However, the image of Serenity all tied up in that hole was unbearable when he thought of it.

Wasn't it so fucked that after discovering that woman was a traitor, he loved her still? That he felt like he couldn't live anymore while watching those crooks hurt her?

They hurt her. They would all pay for it. Xane and Sunny, they would seriously pay. He staggered to the close the blinds. The sunlight streaming in from it was hurting his eyes.

He could feel how swollen his face had gotten. He touched it, felt the sore, and groaned. “Fucking, Xane!”

He was barely allowed to ponder on his misfortune further when his phone rang. When he picked it up, he found that it was an unknown number. Instantaneously, his heart skipped a beat.

But then again, he manned up and took the call. “Hello?”

“Tick, tock, tick, tock, Shawn.” Xane’s voice mocked from the other end.

Shawn’s grip on the phone tightened. How had the bloody fool known his private line? Oh – it was Sunny, that bastard.

He almost spat into the phone. “Fuck off, Xane.”

However, unlike Xane’s reply that he expected, he heard Serenity’s cry of pain. “What are you doing to her?!” He roared, rage pouring within him.

“Don't be such a stingy dude, Donnelly. I've seen you enjoy that girl. I just might be thinking of doing the same.” A chuckle. “You don't mind sharing, do you?”

Shawn’s jaw tightened, anger welling up inside of him. “D — don't you dare, Xane. Don't you dare do that to Serenity!”

“Then bring me my plan book, Donnelly! Bring me my plan book or I won't kish fuck her. I'll gag her until she slumps and dies!” Xane hollered back, the threat in his voice evident.

Shawn exhaled. He couldn't imagine picturing Xane on Serenity. He didn't want to imagine what they could do to her all alone with those crooks.

“Fine, you win. Send me the location.” He gave up. There was no fronting. This was a game. It was either he listened to Xane or Serenity would definitely be hurt.

He’d never be able to live with himself should this one die because of him.

Barely a minute after the call ended, a text beep came and the location and time had been sent to him. It was to happen the following night.

Shawn almost threw his phone on the floor in frustration. He felt like a fool. Deceived by Sunny. How could he have trusted the goddamn betrayer that easily?

Why had he allowed him to manipulate him into firing the two most loyal people to him? He was paying. Paying for how rotten he was. Paying for not believing in and respecting others.

Xane was his nemesis. Wait, Serenity was his real nemesis. He fell in love with the woman working with Sinclair to bring him down. Worse, he wanted to save her now more than ever.

He hated the way he smelled. “I need a shower.” He muttered to himself and headed to the bathroom but a knock on his door stopped him.

“Who the hell is THAT?!” He bellowed, paranoia getting the best of him.

A soft and unsure voice came from behind the door. “Erm, Mr. Donnelly, some people are outside the estate gate, wanting to see you.”

It was a maid’s voice.

“What people?” A frown aged him. He wasn't expecting anyone.

She muttered an uncertain, “Security said some men from the site or something, sir.”

His heart rate quickened. That should be the supervisor and the rest of the team. He could already guess why they were here.

Serenity.

She had been absent after all. They had probably tried her lines to no avail. He could already see where this was going. How was he to answer their questions?

Where would he say she had gone to? Telling anyone about what had happened meant risking Serenity’s life. He wasn't prepared for that.

He’d never be prepared for that.

“Sir?” The maid’s voice called when she heard no reply from him.

Shawn rubbed his eyes, turmoil sitting pretty inside of him. “Tell them I'm yet to be home. The security should politely send them away.” He finally instructed.

“O — Okay, sir.” The maid curtly replied and he heard her receding footsteps next.

Immediately after, Shawn punched his bed hard. “Grrrrr!” He groaned, tears sifting from his eyes as a result of the pain he was holding back.

Nah. He could not hold back anymore. He was tired. He was alone. He was lonely. He was deceived. He had failed Flanders and Gina too.

This was hell and hell was what he deserved.

“Why did that loser fix the exchange for tomorrow? He definitely wants me to suffer. Oh, God, I am suffering.” He turned around in his bed, whining for mercy.

If only the exchange was fixed for today, he’d have taken the plan book, give fucking Xane and get Serenity back. All he wanted was to get Serenity back.

Nothing must happen to Serenity.

He staggered to the bathroom, got bathed, got dressed, and headed for his cellar. Alcohol should ease his troubles. He would make sure to drink a lot of those.

His work, life, and woman were ruined now. There was really nothing left for him. He spent the rest of the day drinking. He got so drunk that he created a scene in the house.

“Stay away from women!” He belched, pushing all the maids. “Look at them – Dysebels!”

“Sir!” The maids would cry and try to run away from him but he would chase after them.

Waving his hands and kicking the most of them and even the air, “Betrayers! Just fuck them!”

He was about to send a kick to one of the maids when in his drunken state, he somehow kicked himself instead.

Seeing the world spin right in his eyes, Shawn’s eyes went round and round until he collapsed.

“Sir!”

“Sir!”
