Before the trigger could be pulled, the sound of glass shattering was heard. Y/n felt the gun be pulled away from her and there was a loud thud. Quickly thinking, Y/n threw her body to the ground so the chair could break and she wiggled out of the ropes and pulled the blindfold off. When she regained her vision, she saw Doppo holding Mori down and fighting for the gun. She had her doubts, but they all faded when she saw Doppo there.

"You came," Y/n was holding back a smile. "Of course I did, I'd never leave my girls," he replied giving Y/n a reassuring smile. The two of them were able to restrain Mori and get information out of him. "Where is our daughter?" Y/n asked. "So you don't deny it, she belongs to the both of you," Mori's eyebrows raised. "That's how it works when you have a kid, you should know that as a doctor, now answer the damn question," Y/n was ready to throw him out of his own building. "Fine, second building seventh floor," Mori replied defeated. "I appreciate it," Y/n said before heading off with Doppo.

"You two are remarkable parents, it's a shame you two separated," they heard Mori say as they left the room. Both Y/n and Doppo tried to ignore the comment, but deep down they knew he was right. From the day the two of the reunited, Doppo had promised to keep Kaya safe and Y/n kept Kaya safe since the day she was born. "Are you hurt?" Doppo asked. "I got shot, but he tended to my wounds," Y/n explained. "Are you still in pain?" Doppo didn't even question why Mori would even help Y/n after having her shot, but he didn't care. "Slight pain, but that's not the point right now, we need to find Kaya," Y/n was still focused on her daughter.

When the two of them arrived to the second building, there were many gunmen aiming for them. Doppo made two guns from his notebook and tossed one to Y/n. The were back to back and looking at all the gunmen, expecting the worst. Just then, the gunmen all looked confused and a wall was being built around them. "Atta boy," Doppo said under his breath before holding Y/n's hand and leading her to the stairs. "What was that?" Y/n asked. "Tanizaki, he can make illusions, so we could escape," Doppo explained.

Y/n was starting to realize how remarkable the Armed Detective Agency was, it was almost enough to make her trust them. The former couple ran up the stairs until they reached the seventh floor, barely having to catch their breath, they kicked down the door and saw Kaya sitting on the floor with tears in her eyes. "Get away from me!" she cried, as arrows appeared out of nowhere heading straight for the two of them. Y/n pushed Doppo's head down at the perfect time. Once Y/n and Doppo registered what had just happened, they looked at each other then at Kaya.

"....Kaya did you do that?" Y/n asked calmly. "I'm so sorry mommy, I thought there were more bad guys coming to hurt me," she ran to her mother and cried in her arms. Y/n picked up her daughter and comforted her. "It's okay, you're safe now, this will never happen again," Y/n promised her little girl. Doppo watched as Kaya clenched onto her mother, absolutely terrified. He blamed himself for this, if he was much more careful, this entire mess wouldn't have been happening in the first place. "I'll take you guys home, are you hurt Kaya?" Doppo asked. "I'm okay daddy," Kaya replied quietly. Doppo felt as if he didn't deserve to be called Kaya's father after what he had put her through at such a young age.

There was no undoing the damage that had already been done. As Doppo drove Y/n and Kaya home, it was silent. "That was the first time you've used it in a while right?" Doppo asked. "Yeah, she's the only reason I used it again," Y/n explained. "Thank you for coming, I'm sorry I went off on you before, it's just...as a mother I got so-" "I understand Y/n, I should've been at your side in a heartbeat looking for Kaya once we got a location," Doppo cut her off.

Before they knew it, they arrived at Y/n's home, she picked up Kaya and began walking up the stairs with Doppo behind her. Both Doppo and Y/n took off their shoes before entering the home. Y/n put Kaya on the couch to rest for a little longer, when she turned around, Doppo was bowing. His head resting on the floor, not looking up for a second. "Doppo get up," Y/n tried to pull him up. "No! I'm so sorry Y/n this was all my fault, I should have been there all those years ago, I should have been supporting you with Kaya and I should've been there to watch her grow. What happened today was my fault because I wasn't there for you or Kaya, I humbly apologize to you Y/n L/n. You aren't obligated to accept my apology, just let me be better for the both of you," Doppo was very serious about his apology.

Y/n could hear him crying and she pulled him close to her. "It's my fault too, I should've told you sooner, Kaya is both of our responsibility," Y/n spoke softly. "You were nineteen..." Doppo's voice broke. "We both were basically kids, but you have to admit, her being in the world is such a blessing, we wouldn't meet again if it wasn't for her," Y/n smiled at Doppo. His entire world had stopped for a split second. He tried collecting himself before speaking. "You know, I was hoping some miracle would bring us back together, turns out that miracle was Kaya," Doppo smiled at Y/n.

"....so what are we gonna do about that huge broken window in Kaya's room, this place isn't safe anymore," Y/n went on. "We have connections and maybe we can do repairs and relocate you two," Doppo explained. "I was actually thinking something else...you know having one roof over all of our heads would make more sense, and you'd be closer to me every day," Y/n casually said. Doppo's face lit up, "you really wanna move in?" "Of course I do, I really missed you after all those years," she was honest with him.
