Prompt: Autumn has a bad day and only one person can make it better
Words: 1,444

Autumn had what could only be described as the worst day ever. She slept through her alarm making her morning routine get messed up and her having to rush to get to work, then she got stuck in traffic making her even later for work. Her computer crashed 30 minutes into her shift making her have to call Reece over from the sister nursery to fix it (Reece's dry humour did not help her already bad mood). She spilt her coffee all over some paper work so she needed to reprint and sort it all out again. She was optimistic that maybe after lunch her day would be better only to discover that in her rush to get to work this morning, she forgot to pack herself a lunch. The afternoon got no better and all she wanted to do was scream.

Marjorie had taken notice of her deputy's foul mood from the other end of the office and didn't know if she should be concerned or scared of Autumn when she got like this, she knew Autumn could take her in a fight any day never mind a day when her anger levels were through the roof. "Autumn?" Majorie started, only to receive a glare from the desk at the other side of the room. "What is it Majorie?" The other sighed, really not in the mood to converse with anyone at that moment. "I'm just checking is everything okay, you seem slightly stressed and I'm wondering if there's anything I could do to help?" Autumn knew Majorie meant well but really the only thing that could make her better was to be at home, in bed and for the whole day to restart. Autumn just shook her head and continued to work.

Finally, after what felt like years, the clock rolled around to 5:30 and Autumn was free to leave. She quickly collected her stuff, yelled out a goodbye to Marjorie and out the door she went. She reached her car, shut the door, closed her eyes and let out a huge well needed sigh. She was just enjoying her moment of bliss and she heard a knock at the window. She slowly opened her eyes to see who it was and was very happy with the sight that was in front of her. There he was. Giving her a small smile and a wave, Winter stood at the passenger side door looking at his sweet girl. She had been so busy and stressed all day she hadn't even got a chance to see him and my god had she missed him.

He climbed into the car and just took all of her in, he could already tell she was stressed so knew not to push with questions, she would tell him in her own time. "Hello my sweet" he said giving her a small kiss at the side of her head, breathing in her scent "Hello darling" she responded giving him a small smile. She loved that he knew how she was feeling after one look, she loved how gentle he was with her, she loved how he treated her, she loved that he knew how to care and love her, she loved him.

The drive home was mainly silent, both parties knew better than to speak after a hectic day and knew when they got home and in their own privacy they would open up about their day. Autumn had never been so happy to see her house and she couldn't wait to just relax with her love. He opened the car door for her and reached out his hand for her to take "m'lady" he said which received a small laugh from his girl. They walked hand and hand until they reached the door, she opened it and went straight for her sofa. Winter locked the door behind them and stood at the living room door just watching her relax herself, taking her pony tail down and her shoes off, he loved watching her unwind, it was like watching her true self come out, something she only really ever did in front of him. He came and sat down next to her and waited for her to take the first step.

After a few minutes she rested her head on his shoulder which slightly made him jump as this was something that wasn't done a lot, he put his head down on top of hers, waiting to see if she would move, when she didn't he deemed it alright to stay like this. "Are you okay darling?" He spoke softly to her, not wanting to disturb her peace but still wanting to know how she was feeling. Autumn shrugged, feelings were never her strong suit, she grew up suppressing them a lot so always felt nervous about expressing them especially to Winter, but if she was being honest she really didn't know how she was feeling. Winter spoke up again "bad day?", this time she nodded, "Everything just kept going wrong, I was late, my computer broke, I spilt coffee, I forgot lunch, nothing went as planned today and it got too much". He could tell she was feeling vulnerable, this had only happened a few times since they got together, he loved the strong front she put on but he also adored her when she needed that comfort he knew she could only get from him.

He lifted his head from hers making her do the same, they looked at each other and he could tell she was feeling nervous under his stare. "None of those things are your fault my sweet, it's just little things that happen to the best of us" he reassured her. "They all happened at once though!" She sighed getting frustrated when she thought back to the day she had. "I know my love and I'm sorry this has happened, but look you still got through it and we are going to have a quiet night together and tomorrow you can try again, one bad day doesn't equal a bad week my dear". She knew he was right (and would hate to admit it but most times he usually was), she was deep in her thoughts when he spoke again. "How about we order some food and you can pick a movie and we can watch, eat and go straight to bed". That was an offer Autumn couldn't refuse, she nodded and quietly thanked him, he gave her a peck on the forehead as a way of saying you're welcome.

He stood up to go order their food and make them some tea but before he left she called out to him. "Winter?" "Yes my darling" she still looked unsure of what she was about to ask, Winter let her take her time and didn't proceed to rush her. "Can I have a hug?". Winters eyes went wide, sure they were close and were intimate in other ways but Autumn requesting a hug from him was something that before now was unheard of. He looked into her big blue eyes and couldn't resist it, he stretched his arms out and let her come to him in order not to put her off. She wrapped himself around him and let out a big sigh, as if he was squeezing all her worries and troubles out of her. He physically felt her relax when he held her and that filled him with such pride that only he knew this side of Autumn. After a few seconds she let go and pressed their foreheads together. "I feel better now" she whispered to him "I'm glad my darling" he whispered back.

The rest of the night was filled with food, old movies and lots of comfort. At one point Autumn had lay down and rested her head on Winters lap, he ran his hand through her long hair and could hear her breathing slowing down as he did it, his darling needed sleep. "Autumn, wanna go to bed?" He softly spoke to her, the sudden voice made her jump and stir slightly, "yes please" she yawned.

They made their way upstairs and got themselves comfortable in bed. "Thank you for tonight my sweet" she said to him, already half asleep again. "It was no problem at all darling, anything for you" he said back, he looked to his side to see his girl already fast asleep, one final kiss on the cheek and he also closed his eyes thinking about how lucky he was to have his Autumn next to him.

A/N- First chapter wooooo, I love writing these two they honestly make me cry. I'm an absolute sucker for soft Aut so probably expect a lot of that from me. Again, I am taking requests so throw anything at me and I am happy to give it a go. Thank you for reading
