She felt like she had lost a limb, a part of her was missing, half of her person wasn't with her and she felt lost. Winter wasn't at home this week, he was on annual leave, a holiday that had been booked and planned months before he ever even spoke to Autumn.

The whole week before she sulked about the house making him laugh, she was extremely clingy before he left and basically followed him everywhere he went. "My love you'll be fine" he reassured her. She knew she would be fine it was only for 10 days. The weekends were tough because she was home alone but being in work was a good distraction. She needed that time not to be fully thinking of him.

They had been calling most nights and he was always sending her pictures and messages, but it wasn't the same. She couldn't feel his warmth or his hand stroking her back and hair through the phone. Autumn was miserable.

On the first day he was gone she just wanted to feel close to him, she hadn't been away from him in so long and had forgotten how big her house actually was when she was alone. Especially the bed.

She wore his hoodies around the house and sprayed his aftershave on them so she could still feel his presence. This made it worse because she knew it wasn't him. She had never considered herself to be a clingy girlfriend but everyone wants what they can't have, right?

The second day she was alone she cleaned her whole house from top to bottom. Something to distract herself without him being there. She felt lonely without him and missed hearing him softly singing whatever song was playing while they were cleaning from the next room. The house was too quiet.

The third day was Monday again, she didn't know how she was going to last another 7 days of this and she didn't like how weird it was to get ready for work without him. Usually he had been awake before her and had a coffee made for her getting up. This time she had to do it all on her own. She had no one to talk to in the car and was oddly quiet in the office. Marjorie knew better than to ask what was going on, she had a sneaky feeling she already knew what was bothering her deputy but didn't want to intrude on her.

The next 5 days dragged in much to Autumns disappointment. She just wanted her boy back with her again. While she was eating lunch in her car, her phone rang and she immediately knew who it would be "hello my sweet" his cheery voice said down the line and Autumn could've cried right then and there, she missed him so dearly.

"Hello" she said simply which was unlike her. She heard him sigh slightly "what's wrong my love?" He questioned, although he knew exactly what was bothering his love. She was quiet for a moment before whispering "I miss you" she whispered it incase somehow someway someone could hear her admitting that even though she was in her car alone. It was loud enough for Winter to hear her though. "I miss you too my darling but there's only a few more days left and I'll be back by your side".

Winter thought it was quite sweet that his girlfriend was pining after him, he was used to Autumn being independent and wanting to have her own space, in her defence since they got together he had never really left her space.

For the rest of her lunch they talked about how work was and how Winters preschool room was doing without him there, they talked about how his trip was going and how his family were and they decided that for their next family trip Autumn definitely needed to come along.
