"It's good to see you, Sora. I think it's about time you come back to where you belong. Don't you think so, too," Orochimaru said.
"Yes," Sora struggled to force out.
Sora looked at Kenji, feeling nauseous, knowing she was handing herself over, but to keep Senshi from feeling the pain of losing him, she would do what she had to do.
"Let him go. I said I would go with you. I have done everything you said," Sora said, her voice shaky from fear.
"We didn't just bring him here because of you; it was to get the message across to your teammates to back off," Kabuto said, looking behind Sora.
Sora looked behind her as Senshi jumped out from the trees, her katana in hand. Sora's eyes widened, panic coursing through her body.
"I told you to stay put; why did you come? Orochimaru, I promise I didn't tell her to come," Sora said as her head whipped around to Orochimaru's terror filling her eyes, scared he would kill Kenji.
"I know Sora. But that wasn't going to stop her. She is persistent and has been asking too many questions. So we have to teach her a lesson now," Orochimaru said.
"I have done everything you said. You said you would leave them alone," Sora said, getting more flustered.
Senshi looked at Sora, realising everything she was doing, all the secrets, was to protect them. She was sacrificing herself for them. Senshi's grip on her katana tightened; she wouldn't let this happen.
"yes, but your teammate needs to learn to," Kabuto said, drawing the Kunai closer to his neck.
"Don't you dare!" Senshi screamed.
Sora wracked her brain to find a way to stop this from happening.
"Big sis," Kenji called out.
Something in Sora snapped as the memories of her sitting in that cell calling out for her brother came to her mind. The fear she felt that still suffocated her to this day. The fear that allowed him to bend her to his will despite the fact he was going back on its word. Sora did not tell her body what to do as she stepped forward.
"You said you would leave them alone, so let him go," Sora said, her voice no longer shaky. She was tired of him going back on his word and hurting those she had come to care about.
"Or what?" Kabuto said as he moved to cut Kenji.
"KENJI!" Senshi screamed in panic as she ran forward.
Sora's eyes suddenly changed, and the area around them was ice-covered within seconds. Ice spikes shot up at Kabuto, making him jump away. Kenji was surrounded by the ice pillars protecting him. He looked around, terrified and not knowing what was happening. Senshi looked at Sora, shocked by what she had done. Kabuto observed, nearly being skewered, and Orochimaru just smiled, seeing she had progressed well in the leaf and seeing the pain had finally made her lose enough control to reveal she had the Korigan.
"I said let him go," Sora said, her voice cold. She was losing herself in the anger and pain.
Senshi looked at Sora, worried, able to see the darkness consuming her friend. Sora could feel her body temperature dropping the longer she stayed like that. But at this point, she lacked control. She was acting on auto-pilot, having snapped, and this time, she didn't have Shikamaru there to help—not that it would have helped, this being a completely different situation.
Kabuto went to run at Sora, but the second he got three meters away from her, ice spikes shot up at him, making him jump back. He looked at Orochimaru now, knowing he was right in assuming that she could unlock the Korigan. But now that she had it, it would be harder to get her. Maybe they should have just taken her and not set her off like this.
Sora was lightly panting, and it became clear why Tatsuo had warned her not to use it until she had trained her body. Being in such a high-stress situation made it so she couldn't deactivate it, being in fight-or-flight mode. She had no control over it. It was just happening, but at this point, she didn't care, wanting to hurt them like they had hurt her.
Ice spikes kept shooting at them as they easily dodged, the attacks wild and sloppy. Orochimaru looked behind Sora and sighed, sensing multiple people on their way.
"we'll leave for now. But I will come back, Sora," Orochimaru said, disappearing, with Kabuto being in no state to deal with that at the moment.
Senshi looked at Sora to see she was panting heavily, looking in front of her like Orochimaru was still there. Senshi went to take a step towards Sora, only for an ice spike to shoot up towards her, who was missing.
"Sora, he's gone," Senshi said, trying to get Sora to focus on her, but she didn't.
Meanwhile, Sora was becoming weaker as she began to shiver. Suddenly, Aisura jumped out of a tree with their three sensei and Senshi's dad. Tatsuo immediately noticed what was happening with Sora.
"What happened?" Tatsuo asked.
"She snapped or something, and this suddenly happened. I can't get close to her without ice pillars attacking me," Senshi said worriedly.
Tatsuo took a deep breath, knowing he had to get to her. He stepped forward, and ice spikes shot at him, missing him. He knew deep down that she knew he wasn't a threat, and these were warning shots that automatically happened due to the heightened state she was in. He continued to walk forward with each step; another spike attacked him, each one getting closer to hitting him until he got right behind her, and a spike cut his cheek.
"Can you calm down?" He questioned.
He could barely see her face, but he saw enough to see a tear running down her face. She had no control and would soon be in a bad place if she kept this up. He sighed as he began performing hand signs.
"I'm Sorry about this, but it's the only way I can help and prevent you from doing irreversible damage to your body," Tatsuo sighed.
He finished as he placed his hand between her shoulder blades. The second he moved, multiple ice spikes shot up and cut him. But he didn't flinch as he put his hand there, performing a sealing jutsu special made for this by his clan. It took a second, but Sora's eyes rolled back as she collapsed, Tatsuo catching her. The ice around them suddenly turned to water. Her body was ice-cold as he held her weak body. She wasn't adequately trained to use the Korigan yet.
Senshi ran up to Kenji, tackling him into a hug, and looked over at Sora with worry in her eyes. Senshi's dad also walked over to Kenji and looked at Senshi, his face serious.
"Senshi, do you really think being friends with her is the best idea? " her dad said, shocking her.
Shenshi glared at him, hurt by his words.
"Of course. Look at what she was willing to do for my shake," Senshi snapped.
"If you weren't her friend, Kenji wouldn't have been in this situation. Besides, she's unstable, and who knows when she could snap and hurt you?" Her dad said, worried about his daughter.
"With all due respect, you know nothing about her and have no right to say anything," Senshi snapped.
She was surprised she was talking like this to her father; she would have never dreamed she could, but she couldn't stop herself.
"I understand; just keep my words in mind," He said, taking Kenji and leaving.
Aisura walked up to Senshi as they began heading back.
"to think you and Sora had such a strained relationship. Now look at you two," Aisura said.
This made Senshi think he was right. When had their relationship changed so much? When had she started to trust Sora so much? When had she started to see her as a family? When in the academy, she couldn't stand her, and the same was true when they were first put on a team. So, how did that all change?
