The hunting party stalked through the woods with Ayden in tow. He and Atom were silently communicating, the boy having agreed to translate for Bellamy.

"Ayden is telling me to tell you that we'll only be hunting what we need. He says that the forest might not be very well suited to a large group of people hunting and that we don't want anything to go extinct under our watch," Atom tells Bellamy. Bellamy scoffed.

"Who died and left him in charge?"

Ayden signed something to Atom. "He says that Mike Saller died and left him in charge." Bellamy just rolled his eyes and shook his head at the quick response.

"I don't care."

"Ayden says it looks like you don't-" Bellamy cuts Atom off with a shush.

"She's mine," He whispered, raising up his arm and preparing to throw his axe at the now revealed boar.

A twig snapped behind the group, and Bellamy spun, throwing on instinct. The axe sunk into a tree, inches from Charlotte's face. Ayden rushes towards her, hands checking her face for any damage. The noise from his panicked movement alerted the boar, causing it to run off.

"Get it!" Jak yelled, racing after the pig. The other boys in the group ran after him leaving Atom, Bellamy, Charlotte and Ayden alone. Ayden began quickly signing, faster than Atom or Charlotte could understand. Between rants he fussed over her, pulling her into a hug. The girl stood there as he hugged her tightly, arms trapped by her sides. The boy was surprisingly strong for someone so skinny.

"Who the hell are you?" Bellamy asked as he pulled his axe from the tree.

"Charlotte."

"I almost killed you. Why aren't you back at camp?"

"Well, with that guy who was dying, I just... I couldn't listen anymore." Ayden pulled back and glared at the girl through a concerned frown. "Sorry, not dying."

"There are Grounders out here. It's too dangerous for a little girl," Atom said with surprising care.

"I'm not little," Charlotte retorted vehemently.

"Yes you are." Ayden signed. "But that is not a bad thing."

"Okay then..." Bellamy pulled out a knife from his pocket. "But you can't hunt without a weapon. Ever killed something before?"

A shaken head from Charlotte.

Ayden snatched the knife off of Bellamy before he could give it to the girl. "She is twelve. Of course she hasn't killed anything. Idiot."

"What did he say?" Bellamy turned to Atom.

"He said that Charlotte is too young to hold a weapon. But that she can come with us anyway." Bellamy shrugged. Ayden shook his head disappointedly, signing to himself as he walked off.
