He didn't understand why he felt so nervous, yet so light as if all his problems were swept away. He's never felt this way before. He did stay at friends' houses before, but he did know they were guys. But maybe it was because she was a girl? No, that wasn't in either. I mean, he even dated other girls, however, they didn't really lead to anything, only some hand holding and a few dates until they got bored, he hadn't even had his first kiss yet. So he really didn't know why he felt so different. She was just a friend right?

Or maybe, she was something more to him.

When they first met, Jiro had this odd sensation. She would always blush at his remarks, usually she'd brush it off, but upon hanging out with him, she knew she was attracted to him. However, she hated it.

In her gut there was always that suspicion that he could play with her heart. She didn't want to assume when they first met, but now. She feels crazy for liking him, especially when she's convinced herself she has no chance with him.

She always knew she wasn't exactly like other girls, not in the annoying and awkward sense that she was too good for them or 'quirky', no. She genuinely feels as if she's below all other girls. Not pretty enough, no chest, nothing in the trunk.
What she didn't realise was that her face was like her mother's, it was beautiful, her nose was button-pointed, however she took the shape of her dad's big eyes, and long lashes fanning her lower lash line. She would always be complimented by her family, friends, and relatives for her eyes. But she never cared much about it and thought they were just finding things to compliment about her to not sound rude.

But she did spark some hope when a boy said her eyes were beautiful as a kid. She couldn't remember what he'd look like, but she remembered she was catching beetles during her summer break, and a boy her age decided to join her.

She remembered that he was really talkative, reminding her of some blonde she knew now, however the strange thing was the kid also had blonde hair.

She wasn't all interested in other kids when she was younger so I guess they never really got too close, as he would stop going to the fields where the beetles were. She remembered seeing him laughing with a big group of young boys as they hung around on the playground or near the mall. They naturally drifted apart, as they each had their own social goals. One, wanted to be like all the other kids, despite being raised in a strict home, without his parents. Whereas, one preferred a quiet and peaceful life in her own world away from all the others.

But she still remembered how much she liked it when he said she had beautiful eyes.

"Hey! It's you again!" A beetle screeched as his voice scaring the insect away. "Can you please stop following me?! I'm trying to catch them! You're so loud!" She angrily took her gear and started walking to another part of the fields. "Ah! Sorry I didn't mean too!" She scowled "Didn't I tell you to stop following me! Aren't you that kid with a buncha' friends already?" "Yeah... but you seem really cool! I wanna be your friend!" Scoffing, she tied a rope on the trap she made. "Heyyy!! I know! I'll lead them to you! I know a trick! They really like crackers!" He said smiling opening his satchel to grab a packet of crackers. "Yeah right. As if that's gonna work." "Just wait and see!" He placed them down in a trail, she watched uninterested.

As they waited for a beetle to arrive, the Sun started to sink, leaving an orange hue to flood the atmosphere. "See. It didn't work. I'm gonna go home now..." "no wait! Look!" She turned around. "Oh! She hid in the bushes with the boy" he pulled the rope. BAM! They caught it! "See! Told ya they like crackers" she smiled and laughed, knowing it wasn't even the crackers. "Thanks!" He paused watching her, usually she wasn't ever showing any emotions other than a scowl or uninterested look. It took him by surprise, he couldn't help but stare as the sun's seeping rays fell onto her face illuminating her midnight eyes. "Your eyes.. they're beautiful..."
