There she was, walking in his halls. They were so fancy, yet so empty. Usually she'd be amazed, like how she was at Yaomomo's labyrinth. But here, she couldn't help but feel like the long lavish walls were slowly moving closer. It was jarring, especially as their footsteps echoed.
"Sorry about the walk. I chose my room to be high up, I'm sorta regretting it now haha."
He raised his arm to grip the back of his neck as they walked side by side."H-huh? No problem, I don't mind. But are you sure your parents are cool with me being here?"
He looked away, his demeanour crashing down alongside his expression."Don't worry, they won't bat an eye even if you break something..."
Jiro felt the sarcasm wring out of his voice, she decided to stay quiet and just nod. She didn't understand why she kept following him, the butlers and maids eyed her as if she wasn't welcome. It made her feel like her actions had major consequences. She was meant to avoid him, not follow him to his room!"Here we are!"
Kaminari opened the large double doors, Jiro's mouth agape from the sheer size of the room, however her interest sparked seeing how personalised it was despite its architecture clashing against the posters and other items displayed."Woah."
He looked over at her, worried about her reaction. Did it look like he was trying too hard? The last time he saw her room, he did take lots of inspiration.
"Uhhh... Is it that bad?"She stepped in, taking it all in. She laughed at the room, it really was a lot, it felt confused, like a bunch of random rags sewn together to make a quilt.
"Hmm let's just say you don't have the knack for decorating.""Ouch! But I tried to make it like yours."
She stared at him in surprise.
"Like mine?"He smiled sheepishly.
"Y-yeah..."
The atmosphere was thick enough, especially since the random invite and the events beforehand.
Jiro decided to just act as how she would usually, to cut him some slack. She deduced something happened between him and his girlfriend."Pfft- I can't say I'm honoured, but I love your effort!" She said chuckling softly as she looked around, however still maintaining her respect by not touching anything, unlike his girlfriend.
He smiled, she really knew how to brighten up his day, even through petty insults. He loved how she joked around. "Awww, you could have sugar coated it, I did try!"
"Yeah right!"
She said as she admired the random collection of things he had displayed. The lack of continuity really made her sense something different from him.
"So, why did you invite me here?"
She finally asked, he froze but sat on his bed casually. "Why? Do I need an excuse to hang around with you?" He said smiling at her softly. He seemed very relaxed, but not in a way that felt natural for him. He seemed very vulnerable. To this, Jiro felt a bit concerned.
"Well... I guess not. We are friends after all..."
She sat down on the floor, turning to face his large tv opposite from his bed. Her words somehow stabbed his heart. He didn't get why. I mean they were friends, so why did it feel so bad? He shifted around on his bed to grab the remote on his bedside table.
"Here." He handed her the remote, she smiled grabbing it. "Thanks."
"You can sit on the bed, it's more comfortable than the floor you know..."
She looked up at him.
"Hm? You sure?" He nodded, she got up and sat down casually. In her head however, she couldn't help but let her mind scramble, thinking of any consequences of this. She was JUST a friend right? There was no way she was crossing the line right? He does have a girlfriend, but Kaminari and her were friends, just hanging out. Right? The atmosphere thickened once more, it was awkward to say the least. "Soooo.. what didja want to do?" She said, twirling her jacks around, watching the show. "Well, whatever you wanna do." He said smiling softly at her. "Idiot, this is your place! You invited me!" She said in annoyance. He backed away slightly and slumped right after. "I guess you're right... maybe... I dunno Mario Kart?" She smiled. "Sure, sounds good to me."
At first, it was all banter and fun. "Change your character, I wanna be Waluigi!" "Nuh uh! You don't deserve his greatness!" But after a while, they were both playing the game in silence, as if their minds ran empty. But in reality, their minds were running wild with expressions. "Crap, should I really be with him right now?!" She said to herself annoyed at her immediate acceptance of his invitation. While she was fighting her feelings, the other was scrambling to be the best host. "Should I get her a drink? Tea? No, juice maybe?... a snack? That's what she did for me... am I being rude right now?!" He was lost in thought and suddenly crashed in game. "Dude, you good?" She asked wondering why he suddenly became sloppy after being so competitive at the start. "M-my bad... spaced out..." He paused the game and crashed onto his bed, at the foot of it Jiro looked over and placed down the controller.
"Is there something you need to tell me?" She asked, separating herself from her own feelings and focusing on her concern for kaminari. he looked at her, weary eyes meeting her gaze. "I guess..." An arm covered his view he didn't understand why he was feeling so embarrassed all of a sudden.
Before he could continue, an unexpected sentence left Jiro's mouth. "You didn't mean to invite me, didn't you?" He looked at her confused. "W-what?"
"I'm pretty sure something happened with you and your girlfriend right?" He sat up, speechless as she continued. "Well I'm not sure what happened but, if you don't want to tell me, it's fine. I can accept that this was a mistake, and I can head out if you need me too." He tired to speak as her gaze shied away from his face, her hands clutching onto the foot of the bed frame. "H-huh? N-no that's not-" Kaminari was left in a static panic, he didn't know what to do or even say. He did it on impulse yeah, but it wasn't at all a mistake, she was a friend after all, so dear to him that she was the first to be invited by him.
"N-nothing happened! Why would you think that, Jiro?" He asked, lies of sweat visibly running down his face. "Are you sure? Didn't you invite her to come here earlier?" He looked shocked. "What? How did you know she came over?"
She tilted her head. "What? Was that not her going to your place earlier?" He paused, he didn't think she saw Shiozaki walk, well, barge in. "I- yeah she did come over."Jiro remained silent "of course she did... I bet they did something..." She thought, albeit a little dirty, she still remained composed, and of course, jealous.
"But..."
His next words led her to open her ears wide, "but?"
"I didn't invite her over..." He said sincerely, he sat on the edge of his bed, and bowed down slightly, hands rushing through his hair in utter annoyance. Jiro's mind began to roam free, what did that even mean?
"Huh?" She tilted her head again, a sour confusion paled her face.
