Jin tilted his head. "Huh?"
Babo groaned, smacking his face lightly. "Fine."
He wrapped his arm around Jang-gan and pulled him into the forge. "Wait there, Jin."
The two entered the forge and the door closed on Jin.
Thwack!
A loud noise can be heard from the forge, shaking the swords.
"Don't bullshit me, Jang-gan! He's not an ordinary kid! Accept him or I'll stab you with all the swords you've forged!"
"What?! The allowance you've proposed is too high! What did you mean by 1 silver?! 3 coppers, that is all I can do!"
"What are you trying to say here, Jang-gan?! Did you not see the liveliness in that boy's eyes? He's practically burning with passion to work at your forge!"
"F-Fine! 4 copper coins, damnit!"
"No! 5 copper coins!"
"Fine, fine! Just shut up!"
Thwack!
The door opened, revealing Babo and Jang-gan. Babo walked up to Jin and smiled, he leaned in and whispered, "give me 40% of your allowance."
Before Jin could speak, Babo tapped Jin's back and exited the store. "Remember that!"
Jin quickly turned around. "Hey! Don't leave me here!" he said, reaching his hand to Babo.
But Babo had already gone out. He glanced back, sneering before walking away.
Jang-gan grabbed Jin's shoulders, preventing him from running. "You're with me now."
Jin looked at Jang-gan, who had a firm grip on his shoulders. "Eh?"
Jang-gan's grip tightened as he gazed at Jin's confused face. "You heard me. You're working for the blade you want."
Turning around, he dragged Jin to the forge. "Your old man informed me about what I'll do with you."
After he had dragged Jin to the forge, he rummaged through his equipment, grabbing a large hammer. "I'll hold the molten metal, you hammer it."
Jin's jaw widened as he stared at the hammer Jang-gan was holding. "That hammer is taller than me! I can't lift that!"
Jang-gan frowned. "Figured. But you have to. Trust me with this." He carefully set the hammer aside and walked over to the furnace.
He grabbed a tong and pulled a glowing piece of molten metal from the furnace. The metal shimmered in the dim light, its heat radiating off of it.
"Grab the hammer," he said firmly. "I'll guide you through this. Your job is to hammer the metal into shape."
Jin hesitated, looking at the massive hammer with doubt. "Are you serious? That thing is way too heavy for me!"
Jang-gan's eyes narrowed. He sat down and set the molten metal on the anvil, gripping his tongs tight. "As I said, I'll guide you. If you let your old man down, I don't know what will happen to you."
Jin stared at the hammer, which was taller than he was. He sighed and took hold of it. He staggered as he took hold of it, nearly toppling him over.
"Hold it near the middle of the handle," Jang-gan instructed, observing Jin's struggle. "That way you can control the weight better."
Jin nodded, readjusting his grip, arms trembling caused by the sheer weight of the hammer. He steadily walks over to the anvil. "What now?" he asked as he glared down at the molten metal.
