Jin followed the faint and swift sound in the distance, leaping from branch to branch.

"Shouldn't I have informed the others?" he thought, pausing on a branch to scan the area around him.

!!

Two figures stood in a clearing, engaged in a discussion. Jin crouched, straining to hear, but only muffled murmurs reached him.

Focusing his Qi on his ears, he heard a feminine voice.

"I'm sorry I'm late, Uncle Gwak."

Seo Dae bowed in apology.

Gwak Deomshim smiled. "What do you want to discuss, Seo Dae?"

Seo Dae faced Gwak Deomshim, her dress glistening in the moonlight. She swallowed hard, fists clenched. "My father. Do you know anything that could help me find him?"

Gwak Deomshim bit his lip, caught off guard. "But your father is long dead, no?"

A coldness settled in Seo Dae's chest. "Grandfather and I... we believe that father is held by one of the demonic cults..."

Gwak Deomshim sighed heavily. "It's been years, Seo Dae. Assassins in black robes took your father a years ago. Your brother has long accepted that."

"Uncle, you can tell me the truth. Father and you were brothers in arms, right? Please help me find him..." Seo Dae's calm demeanor cracked, desperation seeping through.

Gwak Deomshim looked at her with understanding. "Prove to me that the blood cult exists in Byu-mei. Prove it, and I'll tell you everything I know."

Hope flickered in Seo Dae's eyes. She bowed. "I will prove it!"

Gwak Deomshim turned to leave. "This path you pursue will be filled with suffering and sacrifices," he said, disappearing into the forest.

Jin, still hidden, felt a pang of guilt for eavesdropping. "Better keep my mouth shut..." he whispered.

Seo Dae stood for a few moments before speaking.

"You can come out now," Seo Dae's commanding tone pierced the silence. She looked directly at Jin's hiding spot.

!!

Jin's heart raced. "How did she sense me?" he wondered, realizing he had used too much Qi.

Srng!

Seo Dae unsheathed her sword. "Are you going to show yourself, or shall I force you?"

Jin remained silent, cold sweat dripping down his brow. "What is this feeling? Her killing intent is directed at me!"

A faint glow appeared as Seo Dae conjured dozens of swords. Leaping up, she met Jin's eyes. "I've always suspected you of being a spy."

Shoooooongg!

Jin jumped down, avoiding her attack. "Spy?! When? How?"

Shiiiiiiing!

"Ackkk!"

Seo Dae's swords left no room for escape. One grazed Jin's arm, drawing blood. "Lady, I'm no spy! Hear me out—aaaack!"

Shooook!

Seo Dae's eyes blazed with fury, her swords dancing in the air. "The sword style you used in the mountains is similar to the ones spies use!"

Jin dashed from tree to tree, evading her attacks. "What?! The sword style I used?! From the mountains?! What?!"

Seo Dae's swords formed a deadly barrier. "Don't fool me. I saw you in the mountains. Don't think you can live after eavesdropping on my secret!"
