The embassy of Hizuru stood majestic against the backdrop of the setting sun, its intricate architecture catching the light in beautiful patterns. For a moment, you couldn't help but stand in awe, marveling at the beauty of Marleyan architecture.
You stuck close to the group as Onyankapon led you towards the embassy, his confident strides cutting across the empty cobblestone street.
As you ascended the steps of the embassy, your heart raced, the click clack of your heels echoing against the building. Your friends walked beside you, all in silence as well, with varying expressions of caution and excitement.
At the top of the steps, a messenger from Hizuru greeted you, his formal attire consisting of a tail-coat covering a white vest and undershirt.
"Welcome," he said, offering a formal bow. "Please, come inside. Lady Kiyomi is expecting you."
With a nod, you followed the messenger through the carved wooden doors of the embassy, the air much cooler and dry than the outside port. Incense filled the air with its invisible presence. A foreign smell to you, but pleasant nonetheless. The soft glow of dim candles illuminated the halls, taking place of the sunshine that was now fading away.
The messenger led you through the winding corridors adorned with blue carpet until finally, you arrived at the end of the hallway. Beyond the door, you were let inside a room adorned with elegant furnishings and tapestries depicting stories you were unfamiliar with. The man paused at the door, giving a respectful bow before gesturing for you to enter.
As you stepped into the room, your eyes fell upon Lady Kiyomi, who was already waiting for you with a warm smile.
"Welcome," she said, her voice gentle, covered by her usual air of formalness. "It is an honor to have you here. Please, make yourselves comfortable." Her words were accompanied by a gesture towards the seats arranged around the room.
You all took up various seats–Hange and Levi selecting the single armchairs, while you sat in the middle of a couch, Mikasa and Armin on either side. The rest chose to stand.
"I hope you've had a delightful first time in Marley. I know Onyankapon must be a wonderful tour guide."
However, there was a moment of hesitation, a brief pause as the memory of the encounter with the child resurfaced in everyone's minds.
Hange cleared her throat, her expression momentarily faltering before she regained her composure. "Yes, Onyankapon certainly showed us the sights," she replied with a forced smile, attempting to steer the conversation away from the uncomfortable topic.
Lady Kiyomi nodded, her gaze thoughtful as she observed the group. It was clear that she sensed the tension in the air, but she chose not to address it directly, instead shifting the focus back to the matter at hand.
"As much as I would love to hear all about your adventures in Marley," she said diplomatically, "I understand that you have come with a more pressing matter in mind."
