Roughly two weeks had passed since your arrival at Hizuru's estate, and the days had blurred into a routine of training and waiting. The last supply shipment had come and gone without a letter from Eren, leaving you and your comrades with little to do but sharpen your skills and practice with the new ODM gear.

Levi's training sessions had intensified as well. He no longer held back, pushing you to your limits, and your skills had grown considerably as a result. During group sessions, you noticed that your hand-to-hand combat had begun to surpass Armin, Sasha, and Connie. Though Jean, with his stubbornness, still proved difficult to overcome, but you managed to take him down on occasion. However, Mikasa, as expected, remained untouchable.

Your body was sore from the grueling training, but you began to feel a satisfaction in this as it was a testament to your improvement. Many days, you would spend the hour following training in the sauna with Mikasa and Sasha, which relaxed your muscles as well as your mind.

Today's task was a team based target practice–an idea cooked up by Hange as a way of ensuring that everyone was becoming familiar with the new gear in a controlled, but challenging environment. The targets, which were wooden palettes painted in bright colors, were meant to simulate human enemies or infrastructure targets. Each team was tasked with locating and "neutralizing" as many as possible.

You all stood in a group as Hange explained the rules. The morning sun was low in the sky, covered by dotted clouds.

"The teams for this round will be..." She paused, pulling a piece of paper from her pocket, "Connie, Sasha, and Mikasa in Team One and Jean, Adeline, and Armin in Team Two!"

You glanced over at Jean who gave you a thumbs up, and Armin, standing next to him, looked over at you with a smile.

"Alright, kiddos. Keep in mind, this is a speed round. You've already gotten accustomed to the new gear, so this exercise is meant to simulate a fast paced attack–one that requires the utmost speed and accuracy. You'll have 15 minutes to take down as many targets as you can. Levi and I will be following either team to keep track. Oh, and losers have to clean dishes tonight!"

A few of you groaned as she listed the stakes. Team One definitely had the advantage right now, as Mikasa was, well, Mikasa, and Sasha was a sharp shooter. Jean was skilled, but you and Armin were lacking in most ODM areas, leaving him as the only one who really stood a chance.

"The clock starts..." Hange began, staring at her wrist watch. Everyone lowered their stance, ready to shoot off at a moment's notice, "Now!" Hange yelled, and within seconds, everyone was up in the air.
