My heart raced in my chest. She was faster than anything I'd ever seen.
She moved so fluidly as her figure vanished and reappeared, each time landing another devastating blow to Eren's body. I watched in shock as he scrambled to dodge her attacks, but it was nearly impossible to see where she was coming from as her skin faded in and out of the background behind her.
It was obvious to anybody that Eren was overwhelmed, caught completely off guard by Adeline's sudden shift in allegiance.
However, it was horrifyingly beautiful. The way her skin shifted looked like scales turning over and under themselves, catching the light of the fiery mess that was now Liberio.
The ground shook beneath me once again, throwing me off balance as another blow connected, sending Eren's Attack Titan skidding across the ground, his body slamming through stone buildings.
His regeneration was working overtime just to keep up with the damage she was inflicting, and even then, he wasn't healing fast enough. Not when her sword, that beautiful mess of flesh and bone, was cutting right through his crystalized defenses.
He tried to push himself up from the crumbled buildings, but his strength gave out, his arms and legs weak. Steam billowed from him as all he could do was sit there, watching as Adeline slowly approached again.
Reiner, having yanked the Jaw Titan out of the way while Eren was distracted, retreated from the scene, the smart bastard. Whether it was fear of what Adeline's titan was capable of or the sheer unpredictability of her next move, I didn't know, but it was clear he had no intention of sticking around.
There goes the chance of ending that shit storm, I guess.
One wrong move and she could easily turn her rage on anyone else nearby. Which meant nobody was safe, not even us.
I gritted my teeth. Something had to be done, or else she would kill Eren and happily turn to do the same to us.
The fucking catch is; this was a delicate situation. Adeline wasn't in control. The only way out of this was to cut her out by force, but getting close to her seemed nearly impossible. There had to be weak spots, no doubt, but who knows what they could be.
And thanks to my harsh training regimen while at Hizuru's mountain estate, she was stronger and more agile than ever. How ironic.
As I was caught up in my thoughts, something flew past my peripheral vision, moving fast—too fast. I whipped my head around and narrowed in on the figure.
Mikasa.
She was diving straight toward Adeline from behind, her thunder spears aimed right at the nape of Adeline's neck.
"Shit."
There was no time to think. My body reacted before my mind could catch up, launching me forward with a burst of speed. She hurled the thunderspears down as I barreled towards her, and I prayed that the force of my tackle would throw them off course before they hit.
