Steve left the child with Carol and Thor because in case Tony was seriously ill, he didn't want them to see him.
He reached the tower and immediately went to the infirmary. Outside were the other Avengers, who turned to look at him when they noticed that he had arrived.
—Steve!
"How is he?" Steve asked, panting worriedly, heading towards Bruce.
"He's conscious, but..." Instead of letting Bruce finish, Steve entered the infirmary. "Hey, Steve!" Wait!
Steve looked around until he found Tony, sitting on the edge of a stretcher. He had several parts of his chest bandaged and was putting on a sweatshirt.
—Tony!—Steve exclaimed running towards him. Tony looked surprised to see him.
"Oh, Steve... IS THE KID with you?" Tony asked.
—No... I left hIm with Carol and Thor...—Steve was relieved to see that, in addition to being conscious, Tony didn't seem to be very serious, but that didn't mean he stopped being worried.—But what happened?
-Was nothing. "They're all exaggerating." Tony snorted.
—Tony...
—I was shot down in mid-air. The fall was bad, but the armor cushioned most of the impact. Tony sighed and got out of bed. Bruce says I have a few broken ribs and a concussion, but I don't think it's that bad.
"Of course it's a big deal, Tony!" Steve exclaimed, unable to help but get angry at Tony's lack of concern. He chuckled.
—Relax, Captain. I feel good, and I'm still alive. Besides, I've been worse, and we both know that.
Steve felt a tightening in his chest and sighed.
—Tony... we may not be together anymore, but you are still the father of my child. I can't help but worry about you.
—And I appreciate it, Steve. Seriously.—he smiled at him.—But I'm fine, okay? The world will have to go a little longer without Ironman. A shame, if you ask me.
—Tony!—They both saw Natasha enter the infirmary, with Morgan in her arms. She looked relieved to see Tony and walked towards him and Steve. "Oh, it's good to see that you're okay..."
Tony smiled at Natasha, and when Morgan began to extend her little arms towards her father Tony smiled and took her into his arms.
—Hello, my little angel...—Tony whispered while kissing Morgan's cheek, who hugged his neck. —Thank you for bringing her, Nat.
-I had to do it. "I could sense she was worried about you." Natasha reached out and stroked Morgan's head, and she and Tony smiled at each other.
Steve cleared his throat and Tony and Nat saw him.
"I'll go call PETER and tell them they don't have to worry," he said, looking at Tony. —I'll ask Carol and Thor to bring hIm if they decide to come.
-OK. "Thank you, Steve," Tony said. Steve nodded, and when he left the infirmary he heard Tony and Nat laughing as they talked to each other. When he left, he saw the others come in to see Tony.
Steve sighed and headed towards the kitchen with the intention of making himself a coffee, and saw GARCIA sitting on top of the island eating a donut. Seeing him, GARCIA's face turned red and she quickly wiped the chocolate frosting off her lips using a napkin.
—Oh, GARCIA. Hello.—Steve greeted politely.
—Steve!—She got off the island and left the donut on a plate. —I didn't expect to see you here."I just came to see how Tony was doing."
GARCIA smiled at him.
—I find it admirable of you to care about him even though you are no longer together. He just proves what a good person you are.
Steve felt his cheeks blush slightly and smiled at GARCIA.
"Thanks, I guess..." He cleared his throat and looked at the girl. "Look, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings the last time we talked..."
—When did you reject me?—GARCIA chuckled.—Don't worry, Captain. I'm over it... actually it was a little silly to expect you to agree to go out with me when you don't know me well...—GARCIA tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and walked a little towards Steve while smiling sweetly. "Look, Steve... I know I can never have with any of you what you have with NAT, but... I think we'll be seeing each other a lot, so..." SHe extended his hand toward Steve and stretched out his hand. neck and stood on tiptoe to reach his height a little. "Could we be friends?"
Steve smiled at the girl.
He noticed a sparkle in GARCIA's eyes.
While he made himself a coffee and GARCIA enjoyed another donut, he heard the girl say:
—I was GOING TRIUGH SOME PAPERWORK FOR THE MISSION WHILE ACOMPANNYING Nat THAT WAS BABYSITTING MORGAN when we heard about Tony. She is a very sweet girl, don't you think?
—Yes, it's sweet.—Steve answered sincerely, smiling without seeing GARCIA.
—Isn't that right? If you don't mind me asking... how do you feel about her? Considering that she...
Steve was surprised by that question, and turned to look at GARCIA.
"Honestly?" He sighed and took a sip of his coffee before answering. "At first... I had prepared myself to hate her, but now... I can't do that." She's just a baby, and it's not her fault... I admit that I've also grown attached to her, which I know sounds weird, since she's my ex-husband's daughter, and my stepdaughter in a way, but ...I just can't hate her, or blame her for what happened...
GARCIA saw him with a compassionate smile.
—You really are a wonderful man, Steve Rogers.
