I took down Greek Gods, Darko-Man, and finally the Ororo Munroe fanfic. The sudden change is because of not being sure where to start Ororo's story despite being a fan of the character. So, I took down the book to come back to it later. The same for the others except I had writer's block for Darko-Man's Chapter 2 and Greek Gods' Chapter 6.
With Greek Gods, I could take the trilogy in many directions. Due to focusing on other stories, I didn't want to neglect this story and shelve it.
As explained in my message board announcement, I am narrowing my focus on the stories I'm more interested in than Cleopatra The Vamptress, Greek Gods, and Darko-Man. I'm not mentioning Storm because I haven't written anything for her chapters yet. So, the fanfic was sitting there and wanted to finish SASHA OF HALOS before starting the fanfic. I wanted to finish the book and replace it with the fanfic. I was gearing towards that mindset to do that to other stories.
Anyway, I'm shelving Greek Gods, Darko-Man, and Cleopatra The Vamptress for now and might start doing the stories offline before republishing them again. Honestly, I don't know. So I'm narrowing my focus to "Elina, Elina," Sasha Of Halos, The Noble Anderson, and The Moment I Fell For Them because those stories are more self-contained and focus on a few characters, to be honest.
For Darko-Man, the characters aren't the issue but are the world-building per se. There aren't many characters in the first book except for Greek Gods. There are more Greek gods, goddesses, and characters within the mythology than my original characters. Then for Cleopatra, there aren't many characters but the story got boring after writing the early chapters.
I did have many ideas for that book but because of writer's block, I decided to shelve it for later.
If a story isn't working anymore, I believe it's okay to shelve it to return later or completely not return to the project. It can help narrow an author's taste in a book like what story are they more interested in writing and will commit to. I understand the importance of finishing a book, I get that. You don't need to remind me. I finished stories before depending on the plot. However, rewriting SOH is taking a while, and "Elina, Elina" and The Noble Anderson have been slow since 2022. I heard some authors never finish a book and take years to complete one. So with me working on multiple projects at once, it's better to narrow and sharpen my focus on the few stories that need my attention.
I like writing Greek Gods but due to stress over the story, I decided to unpublish it and return to it later. Plus, writer's block. For Darko-Man, it's due to putting my focus on other stories.
Anyway, I'm only focusing on those four stories. None of them will be taken down unless for a chapter edit. Because of that, I'm thinking of uploading a new story but I don't know.
Instead of expanding some stories to a series, I might make some a standalone or a duology that way if I don't have many ideas for a multiple-book series, I can just make new stories just standalone.
