Jungkook knocked on the door. His heartbeat racing with uncertainty. He waited for the hatch to open, Jimin right beside him all the while.
"Yes!" Came a voice from inside and soon an old man appeared before them.
"Are we talking to Professor Kang Chul?" Jungkook inquired. His gaze taking in the posh looking man.
"I am Kang Chul. By any chance are you the ones who had asked for a meeting with me the day before?" He questioned with a welcoming twinkle on his lips.
"I'm Jeon Jungkook and this is my friend Park Jimin." The alpha nodded. "And we indeed wished to have a talk with you. I hope you won't mind our interference."
"Not at all. Come inside kids. It's been so long that I've had visitors in my humble abode. Such a good change of air." Chul cheered out whilst guiding them towards the parlour.
"So? How did you get to know about me?" He asked once they were sitting down peacefully.
"We saw a pamphlet of your recent seminar in a university at a cafe we were at. There were some students in that place and they seemed to have your contact. That's how things went forward." Jimin stated. His hands busy fidgeting with each other. He for sure was really nervous.
Jungkook had given him a hope he so badly wanted to hold onto. He really wished that whatever they were finding out could bring him back in the arms of his mate.
It was only him who knew what pain he was going through. He never wanted to give up on Yoongi or their beautiful relationship but for him his self esteem and respect also mattered. Even if things might have happened accidently that night, they did happen at the end of the day.
Jimin could not help but feel utterly betrayed by his own mate and best friend. He just couldn't look at them with the same emotions anymore. Anger and frustration had taken over his heart and soul. But was it possible that whatever they saw and felt was just a mirage?
He really wished it was.
But that hope scared him too.
He didn't want to fly high and then fall down again. He had already experienced it once and it was painful beyond words.
"We got to know that you are a mate bond specialist and also a mating Counsellor." He added after a few calming breaths.
"If you are looking for an advise on your mate bond then you are at the right place. What is it that you guys are curious about? Are you both mated?" Chul sat back onto the couch. His gaze analysing the two youngsters with scrutiny.
"No. We aren't mates." Jimin shook his head. "Honestly we have no idea about what we wish to know. We have no questions but we are seeking for answers. Finding out about you was purely out of luck. We don't even know if we can really take your help or not."
Those words were followed by a defeaning silence. A nervousness spreading throughout. Jimin and Jungkook looked hesitant and unsure. Something that intrigued the old man even more.
"Okay. Let's just say that you don't know what you want to ask but we can surely say that you want to know more about your mates and mate bonds. Taking that into consideration I want you to tell me about your situation. It will remain just between us so trust me and let yourself be free."
"Actually.........." The silver head gulped, taking a quick glance at Jungkook who gave him a nod of approval. "We were cheated on. We both found our mates together in a compromising position. It has been almost five months since that incident but they keep insisting that they have no idea about anything.
They woke up in front of us. We saw them with our own eyes but they keep saying that their mind is blank when it comes to that night because they were drunk. We......we don't know what to do about it. Do we trust them or is it okay to feel betrayed and angry for what they did?"
"I'm really sorry to hear that." Chul sighed. "This situation is one of the most often encountered one. I've seen marriages end just because one of the partners decided to experiment with love. Though I still believe that eyes can lie. Never trust them entirely."
Jimin gulped the lump of tears in his throat. "You.....You are right. I didn't want to believe my eyes either. Our relationship was full of love and trust. When I saw them together I really felt as if I was hallucinating but then I remembered that pain we both felt through our mate bonds. That pain lasted for quite some time.
At first I was anticipating an accident. We both were. It felt like hell to be away from them during that time but then we found them sleeping together instead. Honestly I didn't want to believe it at all. It pains me more than anyone can even imagine but I just.....I just can't face them anymore."
"I understand your pain Jimin. I do get where you're coming from but there are certain things that might change your beliefs and the prospects of this situation." The professor leaned forward. A serious expression etched over his countenance. "There is a lot about mate bonds that we don't know as evolved werewolves. Technology advancements have taken away our sensitivity towards emotions from us."
"I don't understand." Jungkook asked, breaking his silence. "You mean to say that our mate bonds can give us a clear picture of this situation?"
"Kind of. Since you both don't know anything about that night either, we can form some assumptions based on what you guys tell me next. I'll ask you both a question. So think about it very deeply and then answer me to the best of your memories. What was the kind of pain you felt? Explain that sensation to me."
Jimin furrowed his eyebrows. He did remember that pain, very well at that. It was nearly impossible for him to forget that curse of an agony. Taking in a deep breath he opened his mouth to explain that bane but before he could, someone else beat him to it.
That someone being none other than Jungkook.
"It was a throbbing pain. As if my muscles were getting constricted together."
