The night had been a dream for all of them. A night of rebuilt compassion and confessions of undying love.
But now it was time to dig deeper.
Them coming to terms with the horrendous incident was not enough. They had to find out the actual events of that fateful day and the culprit behind whatever happened.
"Why are we going to the doctor? I hope Tae is fine. The baby too." Jimin inquired while gently patting Taehyung's back who was deep in his sleep. The boy was clearly very tired after the previous night.
"He's fine hyung. Just exhausted. It's Yoongi hyung who wanted to go there." Jungkook informed the omega. His eyes stuck head on the road as he pressed onto the accelerator.
"Why Yoon? Is everything alright?"
"It is. But it isn't as well." Yoongi sighed. His words a string of confusion and worry for the others in the car. "The thing is that we got to know about Taehyung's pregnancy when you went missing Jungkook. At that time none of us had any suspicion about the baby not being yours but after you came back the accident happened. Taehyung told us that you rejected him on that night.
Eomma was very angry at him. She has been blaming Tae for your injuries and memory loss. While you were unconscious she wanted to throw him out of the house but I couldn't let that happen. We were not sure about our own actions either so I decided to take this responsibility on myself till the time everything was back to normal.
I lied about the baby being mine but I think Eomma didn't believe me. She asked me to marry him if that was the case so I had to. I just wanted him to be safe and under my care. What I didn't know was that Taehyung somewhere believed my words. We had a confrontation and he told me that you never felt the baby.
We immediately decided to have a DNA test done and it matched to your hair sample perfectly. The things didn't join up so we had to ask the doctor about it and after hearing everything he said that someone might have been drugging either you or Tae."
"What!? Drugging?" Jungkook exclaimed. His eyes wide open while his hands turned white with how tightly he clenched onto the stearing wheel.
"Yes." Yoongi nodded. "There is something that has been tampering with your systems and wolves. But what I don't understand is how are you able to feel the baby now?"
"Honestly hyung I haven't been taking my medicines for almost a week now. Maybe that is the reason. Maybe the effect of the drug finally weared off."
"Hmm. Could be." Yoongi agreed. His brows were furrowed in confusion as he thought over everything. "Also if this drug thing has been happening since before your accident then the person might have already known about Tae's pregnancy before you."
Jimin gasped, as the gravity of the situation dawned over him. "Does it mean that someone close to us has been trying to sabotage our relationships?"
"Seems like it. I just hope Tae and our pup are completely healthy. I don't want any harm to either of them." The trueblood sighed deeply. A feeling of worry taking over his form. The revelation was too much for his brain.
The possibility of someone close to them having done something so cheap scared him to the core. He felt a sense of dread taking over him as the thought of Taehyung being harmed by something horrendous took over his every fibre.
"I just hope we are able to solve this shit as quickly as possible." He sighed, the car slowly coming to a halt at the parking lot of the hospital. "Jimin hyung you take care of Tae. We both will go and see what the doctor has to say about the medicines."
"Okay. You guys go." Jimin mumbled with an encouraging smile on his face.
"We'll be back in no time." Yoongi assured his mate while Jungkook kept looking at his sleeping lover with nothing but absolute love in his orbs.
Finally after a second or two, giving the omegas one last look both the alpha's exited the car and quickly rushed inside the hospital. A few minutes later they were standing before the doctor who was already waiting for them to come.
"Taehyung's vitamins." He stated whilst pushing the bottle of tablets towards the pair. "This medicine looks exactly the same but these are not the multivitamins I prescribed him. These are foetal scent blockers. They mask the scent of the unborn baby and prevent the father from bonding with it. Usually people who are in multiple relationships opt for this method."
"How long does this pack of medicine last?" Jungkook questioned, albeit nervously.
"A month." The physician said. "I told him to take these vitamins every day throughout his pregnancy when he came to me for the first time. After that he did not come for any of his checkups up until a few days ago. Though he did tell me that he has been taking his medicines regularly. So someone is changing his medication in his absence."
"Then why did you not come to know about it when I brought him here for a checkup? You only suspected it when the DNA results came out. Shouldn't you have detected something in his blood tests?" Yoongi was worried would be an understatement. He felt foolish for not paying attention to his own house.
"I'm really sorry Yoongi-ssi but these foetal scent blockers are made in such a way that they don't get detected in the blood stream. The quantity of the drug only works for a day so it has to be taken regularly for it to keep working. It no longer has any effect on the body after twenty four hours."
Jungkook sucked a deep breath in. That means Taehyung must have forgotten to take his medicines. That is why I started feeling our baby. He thought. The things suddenly falling into place.
"Thank you doctor. We're really grateful for your help. We should get going now. There is something that we need to do."
Yoongi's determined voice brought the trueblood out of his thoughts. He glanced at the elder who signaled him to step out of the office. They proceeded to leave, walking along the slightly crowded corridor. No words were exchanged between them as they stepped into the elevator.
"I had asked Eunwoo to give me access to some CCTV footage of the places around our mansion. There was nothing concrete in it but now that I remember I did see something that should have been taken into consideration."
Jungkook stared at his brother in utter confusion. "Hyung I don't understand what you are trying to say. Please be more clear."
The elder gulped. A thin film of tears covering his eyes.
"I think I finally know who might have done this."
