Autumn

Five years after taking over the nursery we finally have all the papers in order to go to court and get my father inprisoned. I take a deep breath before walking in the courtroom. Everyone but my dad and the judge are present. A lot of thoughts are all rushing through my head at once.
What if he tries to fight us? What if he doesn't show up? What if he doesn't go to jail? What if-
My thoughts get interupted by my dad walking in and he sits down next to his lawyer.
I think Reece saw the panic in my eyes as he places his hand on my shoulder and says; "Tranquille." I am a bit taken back by him speaking French but it does calm me. "When did you learn French?" I ask him. "I started learning when I moved out."
We all stand up in sync as the judge walks in. "Today we are here to fight the case of fraud. Reece and Autumn Knight are suing Roger Knight." The judge start the lawsuit and we all sit down. The judge tells us everything we know about the case and we start the hearing. My dad is denying he did any of the crimes he commited, but luckily me and Reece have a good lawyer and a ton of evidence against him.
After a long while the judge comes back with the sentence. "Seeing you tormented your children for years and took part in a lot of fraud I sentence you to pay a hefty fine of £50.000 and you will serve 40 years in prison."
Reece and I let out a sigh of relief as that bastard now finally gets his karma.
As the case is now closed, Reece and I walk out of the courthouse. "Finally that man is behind bars." I comment. We sit in the car and all the flashbacks return in my mind and I can't get them out if my head.

I look over to Autumn to see hear with her head in her hands and she is shaking. "NO!" "DON'T DO IT!" "PLEASE!" She shouts as she grips her hands in her head. "Autumn!" I scream whilst grabbing her but she doesn't react. "AUTUMN!" I shout again, this time shaking her shoulders. I stop shaking her when she lifts her head and looks up at me. "Reece?" She asks softly and wraps her arms around me. I feel a tear falling on my back as I embrace her. "What's wrong Aut?" I ask whilst stroking her back comforting her. "Flashbacks." She replies silently sobbing. "It was the one time he hit you wasn't it?"
I remember the time all to well. She was only eleven and I was upstairs whilst my dad was screaming at her downstairs. As soon as I heard the commotion. I tried to jump infront of Autumn but it was to late. He had hit her and hit her hard.
Autumn pulls back and nust nods. "Its alright Aut, he can't hurt you no more." I say holding onto her shoulders.
I drive Autumn to her nursery, say hi to Marjorie and go to my nursery.

I sit down for a second and Marjorie already asks me a question; "How did it go?" "He has 40 years in prison and has to pay £50.000."
"That was waiting for him for so long, karma's a bitch."
