It took a little while for Ember to get over the shock that she heard the gun go off. She was sitting on the sofa in the living room thinking about it all. She knew her mother had shot him because she heard it go off rather quickly, and if Roger had shot her, it would take a little while longer.
The young brunette texted Reece and told him to get here ASAP without Lilly and Ben if possible. Within ten minutes, her aunt and uncle were at the door, and she opened it for them. "What's going on, Em?" Ember took a quick glance over at the field and saw her horses being on edge, but then she turned back to Marjorie and Reece. "He's dead." She talked with both a monotone voice and a straight face. She hid the fact that she was very overwhelmed by the whole situation as it all happened within a matter of a few minutes.
Marjorie hugged Ember, knowing that the girl must have a lot on her mind right now. The girl fell into the warm embrace of her aunt and let it all out. There were a few tears, but she couldn't lay a finger on why they were streaming down her face.
Whilst Marjorie was busy calming her niece down, Reece walked past them on the search for his sister. He frantically searched the house to find her in the basement, cleaning up the blood.
"Yes, brother?" He heard her ask.
"How did you know it was me?" Reece was confused. He didn't even say anything yet.
"You footsteps." She bluntly said.
"Anyways," He paused for a second to gather his thoughts before continuing. "You did this?!" He was utter in shock. He knew his sister would hurt him when she found him, but he didn't think she would go as far as to kill him. "Yes, I did." She wasn't even showing a slight bit of sadness about it, and that shook him the most.
"How did you even find him?" He saw Autumn getting more tense at that question, almost entering her murderous rage again. She didn't want to relive what had happened. How he had entered her hoke, violated her privacy like always, and almost took her everything away from her. She was still furious about it even though he was now dead. How did he even enter her home in the first place? When she walked out to go to Ember, she shut the front door.
"Autumn?" Reece brought his sister back in the moment, and she clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white.
"I found him standing in Embers room." She took a brief pause, regaining her composure. "Holding her at gunpoint."
Reece saw Autumn's eyes go dark at her reliving the moment. He opened his arms so she could let him hug her, and she almost jumped into them, holding him as tight as possible.
What still in Reece's embrace she looked up at him and asked him a question: "Where are your kids?"
"At Sorscha's house. She was on the route here, so we just quickly dropped them off."
"I'm going to have to tell her, don't I?" Autumn sighed. Reece didn't know that actually they were really good friends. Autumn had met Clodagh in college, and not much after that, she was introduced to Sorscha. Even though their differences, the three were inseparable. Autumn had been such a major part in the life of the two that they even named their baby after her. For the rest, it seemed like it was all because she raced Sorscha over to the hospital, but in reality, there was much more behind it.
"Yes, or I can do it, but you two have known each other for way longer."
Autumn eyes widened, and she pulled out of her brothers embrace.
"What do you mean? We just met when I started at the nursery, you know that!"
Reece slightly suspected that reaction but still was a bit surprised by how frantic she reacted. "Autumn, I know that isn't true. I know that you met before that."
"How did you-" She was inturupted by the sound of soft footsteps going down the stairs, and she knew it was Ember going into the basement.
"Ember stay there." Autumn told her.
Ember did as she was told and stayed where she was as the siblings went up the stairs to go to her. They all sat down in the living room, and Ember hugged Autumn.
The young - but also old enough to get annoyed when people called her young - girl looked up at her mom before nuzzling into the crook of her neck. "When are we going to Auntie Sorscha?" She softly said but loud enough for Autumn to hear. However, Autumn wasn't the only one who heard. Reece and Marjorie, who were said beside her, also heard, and now Marjorie looked at Reece confused.
"Auntie Sorscha?"
Autumn sighed, "Yes, you heard it right Marjorie. We are rather close with Clodagh and Sorscha." Winter spoke up before Autumn could.
"Oh that's alright, I just didn't expect it. Anyways, we better go get Lily and Benny."
She stood up grabbing Reece's hand and walked to the front door. The other family followed not far after them, forgetting all about Roger in the moment.
