-Prologue-
-Summer-****
"It's time to go"
The door swung open, showcasing the grand backyard that screamed of nature, birds chirped and the air whistled loudly against the nearby trees. I sat there on a little bench enjoying the afternoon, the thought of leaving is the scariest thing on my mind. "Come on shine, you know we have to go", father said, a smile pulling at the corners of his lips, though it turned down it was indeed a happy smile.
"But I don't wanna go", my little voice cracked towards the end, I sniffled and wiped at my nose. Father walked over to me and patted my head ever so gently, "you're still sick? Come mama give you medicine", he outstretched his arm for me to hold. I grabbed his larger hand and followed him into the house.
"You'll be better love", mom said after i drank my prescribed drugs. A happy smile spread on my face, completely believing her words.
Soon after we left the house, dad locked up while mom was on the phone with dad's mother, she smiled as she spoke, "yes, we're leaving now...well be back in a week...yeah"
I got into the back seat of the jeep and waited for them both. They got in and we were on the road soon after.
"Papa, look" I said pointing at the horses that ran at the sides of the road we drove along. "Good eye, dear", he complimented me on seeing them. Before I could soak up the complement mom interjected, "put on your seatbelt love", she turned around to look at me.
"But I'm eight, i don't have to wear it" i disagreed, folding my arms across my chest. Mom shook her head, "it doesn't matter, and you're nine" she corrected.
"Come on we're almost there, mama", dad said, gripping her arm and trying to get her focus ahead. Mom wasn't having it today, she was tired of dad making excuses for me, "she has to learn..." she declared.
"And she learns enough daily, it's too much for her brain", dad said, his eyes softening as he stared at his wife. "I know but this is for her safety-"
"Dad look", I squealed, recoiling in my seat as the truck in front of us made a sudden turn. With the pace we we're going at it was too late to stop............
