Pip had missed those game nights. She could hardly remember how fun they used to be. In order to celebrate Naomi's birthday, Cara decided to throw a game night and invite everyone. Well, almost everyone, but Pip had the idea to bring two more people, in order to properly reunite with them. Her other sisters, Becca & Nat. So here they were: Pip, Ravi, Cara, Naomi, Becca, Nat, Connor, Jamie, Steph, and, of course, Violet. Their little plus-one, who joined the family recently and without knowing it, saved it.
Violet had never had a game night before. Lilly was at a sleepover so she could join them too. She was really scared to do so though. She was afraid of messing up, making any wrong moves and embarrassing anyone or herself. She knew everyone but was still really anxious.
They started with charades. In one team, Nat, Violet, Steph, and Naomi; in the other, Pip, Ravi, Cara, Jamie, and Connor. Naomi's team went first, and Steph successfully guessed Nat's acting of a detective.
The games went on, and some of them started drinking. Jamie got so drunk, he started asking questions. Inappropriate questions.
"So, Violet, why did you have a child at 14? You could not wait to be a mother?"
"I.."
"Or was Lilly an accident? You know, you were just having fun and this changed your plans?"
"Shut the fuck up."
The response did not come from Violet, but from Nat. Despite the fact they were dating, she could not leave Vi defenseless.
"Why, baby? Is she afraid to talk about what's she's done? What have you done, huh?"
Violet could not take it anymore, all of her feelings were bottled up in a bomb which finally exploded.
"LEAVE ME ALONE! It's none of your business, do you hear me? None of your business."
Why did they care? What did she ever do ? Why was he attacking her, firing the questions at her one by one, like a gun. She stood up and ran upstairs.
Pip got up, to go and comfort her but Cara said "I think it's best if Nat goes to her. Or Becca."
"I'll go." Nat said
Pip was entirely confused. She knew Violet was hiding something, but it was getting bigger and bigger. What was that secret? How bad was it?
