"Of course I still love you. I love you both more than anything, more than anyone. That's why I had to go." She looked at Violet "Thank you for taking care of Cara when I couldn't. I would love to introduce you to my family. Our family."
"Fun fact, my mom and your dad are siblings, so we share 25% of the same DNA. Some siblings share that amount of DNA too. Technically we could even be sisters!"
" I can tell you two share an amount of DNA," Ravi said and he laughed.
"Well this whole thing was fun but I reeeally need to go back to work, you know? I finish in like an hour so we could meet up then" Cara said
"We can wait!" The little girl said.
Pip looked at her niece. She looked so much like her cousin. "What's your name, little one?"
"Lilly! Like my grandma!"
After a while, Lilly found some of her friends and she went to play with them. Which meant that Pip, Ravi, and Violet had almost an hour to talk.
"No offense, Violet, but how can we know you're serious and that you can help us investigate?"
Violet didn't seem offended at all. "I knew you'd ask. Come here." She whispered in her ear. "I figured out who killed DT. Who really killed DT. But don't worry, nobody knows. I didn't tell anyone, quite the opposite. I convinced everyone who was doubting it was Max. I'm on your side."
Pip was shocked. She expected everything but that. How could she figure it out?
"Ravi, she knows." And that was enough for Ravi to understand too. He didn't seem frustrated though.
"I just did some simple investigation. But it's more of a psychological part of it. I promise to explain to you two some other time."
"I trust you," Ravi said and Violet knew she had won. She won their respect by just being herself. "Pip, she would've told someone if she wasn't on our side. "
Pip thought of it. She knew that Ravi was right. Why wouldn't she tell anyone if she meant to harm them? She could easily do that and earn money and fame. But as she could see, Violet didn't care about that sort of stuff. She was as simple as she was. She had to help her find out the truth. Her, Violet, and, most importantly, her mom needed to know the truth.
"Can you email me your investigation?"
"It's in my notebook. But I always scan it just in case. Don't worry, I have a pdf-to-word converter so that will do"
Ravi giggled and looked at Pip.
"So, here's my notebook." She showed them a small notebook and opened a page, where she had written with different coloured pens. Her handwriting was simple but beautiful.
"I know it's not much, but..."
"Guys, I'm here!" Cara said.
"It was about time," Violet said, with a smile. "Lilly, time to go! Would you guys like to spend the night at my place? I have a guest room."
"Excuse me, how old are you?"
"Seventeen. I've been working since I was fourteen and saved up money so now I have a lovely house. Naomi took my custody from the orphanage a while after you left for uni. We all live together though so technically not my place."
"That's genius. And how did you meet?"
"I don't even remember, honestly," Cara said.
"My offer is still here."
"I'll take it. And so will my sarge." Ravi said.
"What about you, Cara?" Pip said, after laughing a bit with Ravi.
"It's sausage to me"
Lilly fell asleep quickly, so the others had a lot of time to talk.
"Vivi, you have to visit Little Killton. And meet Pip's family. They're sweethearts, honestly. Now that school is over, you have more time." Cara said. She seemed so excited.
" Well, I could, I guess.."
"What's wrong?" Ravi asked with a soft tone of voice.
After the incident that traumatised her when she was 13, she didn't want to be around men. But Ravi was different. She felt safe around him. They were technically cousins so she was glad she had a male relative she could rely on because she knew she could rely on him. She had to tell them about the incident, but not now. She didn't need their mercy. She answered with the first excuse she came up with, knowing that was one of the reasons as well.
"Well, I'm a Fitz, right? Wouldn't it be, you know, awkward, to go meet the Amobis and cause trouble? I don't want to be a burden."
"You're not a burden, Violet. I'm going to Little Kilton next week anyway and you and Lilly are coming with me. My dad and brother are nice and will understand. I promise they will." Pip said.
"My dad is a killer and a kidnapper and I used to come to their house almost every day so..." Cara said
"I never met my dad. He left mom before I was born sooo" Violet replied, laughing.
"I have two dads and one of them died in a car accident. "
"I don't think it was an accident, Pip"
"What are you talking about?"
"I think it's time you see my notebook and this time carefully"
"Let me see"
"So, you think that I was kidnapped a day after I was born and that my dad sued the kidnapper so that's why he died?"
"Yeah. I mean you could ask your mom about it so you get more details and proof, but that's the main theory."
"I won't ask her. We will ask her. We are in this together."
"Isn't that personal?"
"We're family, Violet. No secrets between us."
"Okay, I will ask her."
"Are you making another season for the podcast?" Cara asked.
Before Pip opened her mouth, Violet replied "No."
"Why?" Ravi asked her.
"My mom posted an article about it and she is still missing. We are not going to say or post anything public about it. Am I clear?"
"Here I am, twenty years old, having a seventeen-year-old to be my boss."
Ravi coughed and pinched her arm. "I did the same a while ago, didn't I? And look at me now." He said and everyone started laughing.
