"Darcy, why're we in class when it's a fucking Saturday – it'd be less painful just to make a fool out of myself by asking for science girl's name. I'm going to kill you."
Students were filing into the lecture hall, and you were sitting between Darcy and Jane, while Thor sat on Jane's other side next to Carol and Sam was next to Darcy, Bruce next to him.
Too confusing? The row is like this left to right (doesn't matter much, don't worry) ...
Bruce at one end, then Sam, Darcy, you, Jane, Thor, and Carol at the other end.
You had a feeling you were squished in the exact middle because they all knew you'd want to bail the second you finished your tea and bagel with cream cheese, realizing this wasn't going to be a movie about a squirrel apocalypse.
You slept a good seven hours and yet, still exhausted, so cut yourself some slack.
"It's a required two hour course for students in the medical or scientific field." Jane informed you, so now you knew why her, Sam (Sports medicine), Bruce (Biochemistry), and Darcy (Neuroscience) were here, but Thor is a theater major, and Carol is a business major.
"Support." Carol shrugged when you leaned forward to look past Jane, shooting her and Thor a questioning look.
"Support for..." You trailed off when Thor and Jane nodded towards the door while Carol smirked, so you followed their eyelines.
No.
No.
No.
"Don't," Darcy warned lowly, putting a heavy hand on your shoulder when you moved to get up, and then slowly turning to face you like some villain in a James Bond movie, "Even think about it. It's starting."
"I know where you sleep, Lewis," You spat quietly, narrowing your eyes, "And your LPs are shit since you didn't warn me about this one like you promised."
"Good afternoon, everyone," Professor Vostokoff started, and Darcy fixed her posture, probably already forming a crush on her the slag, "More faces than I expected...hope everyone who wanted credit for this course has signed in. Now, this is a fast course in all things – very hands on, so I'll be looking for volunteers, or I'll just pick whoever I find suitable enough if no one does," She smiled kind of mischievously, "And if you're in any of my classes, then you're probably freshmen, if not, you're upperclassmen who need this to graduate and have been putting it off."
"A nightmare," You muttered, "This is a literal nightmare."
"Shhh." Darcy hissed and you scowled at her.
"Any questions?" She paused to take a couple before clapping her hands together after answering them, "Alright, let's begin."
You weren't really paying attention to anything but the slides she'd show of her pigs who were animal-friendly science experiments for some of her research and then sometimes your attention would drift to the back of science girl's head. It was only for a moment or two, but her hair was in a few small braids on the side, the rest curled, and she looked nice.
Probably has a date after this since it's Saturday.
That thought had you sighing sadly, your chin and part of your cheek slumped into your palm as you had your elbow rested on the table in front of you, but your sigh must've been loud, or this professor has super hearing – your bets on the latter – because her attention snapped to you.
"Name." She demanded, cutting off her own thought midway and everyone, including science girl, turned to look at you, but it took you a moment to realize.
