"Shitfuckshitfuckshit!" You muttered in a panic, barging into your dorm and throwing your bag on the floor near your bed before stripping off your jumper as you toed off your shoes, "I'm late – I'm fucking late!"
Darcy watched you with wide eyes, but you didn't have to explain since you updated her every step of the way while 'out of town' and she told you she'd have your outfit for tonight ready, all you had to do was shower and freshen up.
"You're okay!" She hopped up and handed you what you needed, "Just breathe, go bathe yourself and you'll be on time – or she'll understand!"
"Yes," You bit back sarcastically, but she never took your anger very seriously, and this was no different since she knew you were stressed, "Because telling Wanda that I was walking around drunk with Carol and Thor before we got seduced onto a boat with food and then drugged before being hauled to Canada for Keanu Reeves knows what only to accidentally escape before going to the mounties only to come back hours later is really going to sound believable!"
"It sounds like-"
"One of those crappy Hangover movies!" You finished with a huff, and she grimaced with a smile before you nodded a thanks for the clothes, heading off to the showers.
You rushed back to your dorm after that, doing your makeup, hair, adding some jewelry, and then putting your favorite pair of shoes on that matched before heading towards the quad. It was nearing eight and you'd just make it if you hurried. You weren't wearing anything super date-like, just casual and nice – technically designer since your dad worked for the company and you got freebies, but it was still nothing too fancy.
When you got there, it was dark since it's that time of year and people were spread out on blankets, camping chairs, pillows, or whatever else they brought for the movie. They were all bundled up, as were you, since the temperature had dropped with the sun, and you made sure you came prepared for that – along with a bag of snacks, a blanket and an extra jumper in case she got cold.
So, maybe you put these things together last night after she left because you were excited, who's to say? It was also before the boat incident – but let's not even mention the tattoo you got somewhere along the way – took showering to notice the bandaged, raised spot.
She wasn't the only one who was there alone, so it wasn't the easiest to spot her, but once you did, you completely melted at the sight.
She was wearing a black long-sleeved dress that had a few buttons near the neckline and then flowed out at the waist to about her knees, with her signature black tights and ankle boots. Her hair was down in loose curls, and she was smoothing out the blanket she had laid down, a habit that you guys might share if she was doing it because she was nervous. She played with the hem of her dress with a frown, looking out at the crowd of people like she was searching for someone, but when you guys locked eyes, she grinned widely as you came over, confirming it was you.
As you got closer, you noticed she had eyeliner on and a dark dust of some eyeshadow, but nothing over the top, with a bit of lipstick – she looked beautiful.
"Hi." She greeted you happily, her voice a bit shy.
"Hey, you look – I mean," You were smiling so hard it hurt your cheeks, but she just blushed, looking down at her dress as you settled in next to her, "You look great – really beautiful. As always – but you know that, I don't need to-"
"Thank you," She gently cut you off, her voice soft, and you smiled, appreciating that she knew when to stop your rambling, but not being rude about it, "You look pretty too – oh, is that for me?"
She was gesturing to the maroon jumper you had in your hands next to the white one and you handed it to her before pulling the chips and candy out of the bag to set out on the blanket.
