regulus lays with a body in his arms, a body he can't recognise. the room reeks with the smell of sweat and blood. blood is dripping off his face, his eyes filled with tears, he holds the body tightly, not wanting to let go of it.

he sees himself slowly let go of the body, picking up a knife. he drags the knife on the body's chest, starting to laugh lowly.

"i hate you." he laughs louder now, almost manically, "i hate you so much."

"you destroyed everyone's lives, you destroyed my life, and you destroyed your own." regulus smiles, and sighs sadly, "all of that for what? power? power is something you're born with, it's something you have naturally, like a black."

he slowly digs the knife in the middle of his chest, an off-putting smile on his face, "no one will remember you as a powerful wizard, they will remember you as the scrawny boy who wanted the power. i will make sure of it--"

right before regulus could hear the name, he wakes up, breathing violently.

the sudden movement and heavy breathing startles his already awake dorm mates, barty's eyes widens, and runs to regulus' bed.

he holds regulus' face in his hands, "regulus, are you alright?!"

evan tries to shake regulus, "can you hear us!?"

he tries so hard to answer them, he wants to answer them, but he can't. he feels like he's drowning again, he can feel the liquid fill his lungs, but this time it doesn't feel like water, it feels like blood. he feels like he's drowning in blood and he can't take it anymore. without realising, he blacks out, feeling the pools of blood surrounding him.

"i still don't understand why he, a fourth year, would take sleeping draughts, and black out for no reason!" says madam pomfrey angrily, "where does he even get them from?! black, you better tell me what's happening to him!" she says angrily.

sirius rolls his eyes, "i have told you before, poppy! nothing is wrong with him!"

"i will have to call your parents, then, perhaps they know more."

sirius' eyes widen, "no, please! don't call them. i don't know what's wrong with him, but please don't call them!"

madam pomfrey sighs, feeling pity for sirius, "i need to figure out what's wrong with him, young man."

regulus decides that now would the best time to start talking, and weakly says, "nothing is wrong with me, madam pomfrey, i just haven't been sleeping and eating well."

they both turn to him, and madam pomfrey sighs again, even louder, "i won't call your parents, but you have to take care of yourself, black. i will not hesitate to call your parents if you end up in here for the same reason once more!"

he nods, and looks to his brother, "thank you for being here, sirius."

"you don't need to thank me, reggie. by the way, your mates just left. they went to dinner, and they're getting you food."

regulus shakes his head, "they won't need to, i'm leaving after madam pomfrey is done checking everything. i'm sure i won't take long. you can go now."

sirius nods, and leaves regulus in the infirmary.

dorcas throws herself on regulus when he sits next her, "ow! dorcas, stop! you're getting crumbs all over me!"
