“I have to go, I’m sorry.” He said, looking intently into my eyes.

“But I thought you’d forgotten about it! I-I thought...” I stuttered.

He smirked. “Don’t go panicking yourself. It’s not like you even meant anything to me.”

I flinched. “What?” I hugged myself and looked to the ground. “You mean to me, Sasuke. Please...don’t leave me.”

He laughed. “What do I mean to you? Your life? Your heart? Oh, Maiko, you mean nothing to me. Sorry, but it’s just the way it is.”

I dropped my arms and walked closer to him. “I don’t want you to leave me. Please. It hurts. You do mean everything to me. Please...Just stay.”

As so as I said that the little moonlight we had disappeared and this...strange fog surrounded us. The night chill became thrilling and dangerous.

“Sssasuke...” I heard the hissing sound and I froze.

“No...” I whispered and clenched my fist and tightly closed my eyes. “GO AWAY!”

“You scared of a little snake?” Sasuke chuckled and I felt something at my feet.

“No! No! NO! Orochimaru’s dead! I killed him I killed him!”

“Remember how I brought him back to life, Maiko? Remember that?” He asked tauntingly.

That’s when it hit me. Sasuke did NOT know that! He didn’t know! It was a dream! And so, I woke up.

Sasuke lay next to me in bed, he was caressing my hair. “It’s alright Maiko-dear, it was just a bad dream...”

I nodded. “I know. It took me a while to figure it out though.”

He smiled. “Do you want to talk about it?” He asked.

I shook my head. “It was nothing.”

“You were pleading me not to leave you...Maiko. Tell me.”

I sighed and gave him a peck in the cheek and wrapped myself tighter to him, pressing my hands to his chest as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

“I dreamt you were leaving me. Like...like you did. And Orochimaru, he was there.” I said.

He hummed. “Alright.” He sighed and sat me up and did the same himself. He grabbed my face gently between his hands and made me look at him. “I would never leave you. Never, Maiko-dear.”

My heart fluttered besides the serious situation. Just the way he’d nicknamed me was enough to make me feel so...happy.

“I know.” I told him. He dropped my face just to lift my chin with his palm and give me a soft kiss, making my lip to quiver a little.

He kissed my forehead and got off the bed when we pulled apart.

“Tsunade wants to meet you at midday. I’ll leave you to change. I’ll be in the kitchen.”

I nodded and opened my closet wide when he closed the door behind him. I chose a pretty kimono and changed into it, I tied a ribbon to my hair since it made no sense to grab it up anymore.

I walked down the hall and into Karin’s stinky room and opened the door. She was still asleep. “Karin, wake up.” I told her and placed the kimono I’d chosen for her on the bed.

I moved her and she opened her eyes slowly. “Maiko?”

“Yeah, I brought you something, Karin; we’re meeting the Hokage at midday. I brought you some clothes.”
