Naruto's Back

I took in a breath as I got my hand as tied to the railing. There was a maniac laugh on the bridge. I closed my eyes for a minute. I was holding onto the railing with my life as I had Hinata hanging on my other hand.

"MAIKO!" I heard a voice call out. I recognized the voice and felt a flutter, the feeling that we were going to be ok...

"Over here! OVER HERE! We're OVER HERE!" I called and saw Sasuke get to the railing.

I sighed in relief. He was helping me get on the actual bridge when a...thing behind him attacked him with a kunai and stabbed his back.

The maniac thing laughed as he saw Sasuke crumble to the floor with an awful wince.

My fury washed over and I pulled Hinata up with one arm and placed her on the bridge.

"Asshole..." I murmured as I saw him grin widely at my angry expression.

I grabbed my sword and went 'defense mode' but not for long. "Incaendo." I said and it went in flames.

I kicked the thing on the chest and he stumbled back then I grabbed the sword and stuck it up his throat and out his head.

I went down to Sasuke and took the kunai out, causing him to cry out. "I know, I know, I'm sorry."

I closed my eyes and opened them in an attempt to heal him but I was too wasted on chakra. I had two 'D-Rank' missions in one day. Not enough time to bring my energy back.

"I can't." I whispered to him apologetically.

"Sa-Sa-Sakura?" He asked.

"Yeah, yeah. Come on, we'll go with Sakura and Ino, they'll heal you." I said with a soothing voice.

I helped him get up and I saw Hinata waking up. She was knocked out.

"Wha-?" She asked, looking around paranoid.

"Hinata, I need you to help me with Sasuke." I told her as I grabbed the necklace the thing had tried to keep away from me.

She got his arm around her shoulders and I grabbed ahold of the other.

"It's ok, it's ok..." I told him. "It'll be all ok..."

We walked back to the village and used Shikamaru as back-up. He hid us from anyone while I walked Sasuke back to the castle.

Sakura and Ino took care of him while I held his hand.

"I'm sorry I couldn't heal you..." I told him as Ino was healing his back, he was shirtless.

"It's alright, Maiko-dear." He said, smiling at me. "You were tired..."

"I should have saved some chakra..." I continued.

He smiled. "You're not letting it go, right?"

I shook my head.

"I'm perfectly fine, or will be." He moved up to give me a peck but Ino held him down.

"DON'T MOVE!" She called.

I smiled and looked down at my hands.

Hinata came in and looked at the scene in front of her and smiled. "H-H-Hello S-S-Sasuke-kun..."

"Good afternoon, Hinata." He said politely, smiling to himself.

It had always been weird how he smiled at the sound of her voice. He says he's always thought it was a bit funny how she stuttered out of nervousness even when there was nothing to feel nervous about. I just thought it was plain darn cute.
