His presence brought back a flood of memories, none of them good. His toxic behavior, the lies and the constant cheating.

He took a step closer. "Can we talk?" He asked.

I crossed my arms over my chest. "What do you want?"

He sighed. "I know, I'm probably the last person you want to see. What happened between us—."

"Don't," I cut him off sharply. "You think you can just show up out of nowhere. What are you doing?"

"I'm sorry," he says. "I made a huge mistake and I've regretted it every day. All this time I've been away reflecting on my self and I've been figuring out how to make things better. Please, just give me a chance to make  things right."

I shook my head. "You can't just waltz back into my life and expect things to go back to how they were. I've moved on and you should too."

Nathan face twisted. "Moved on? You think you can just forget about us? You think he's better than me?"

I took a deep breath. "At least he treats me with respect, something you never did.  Now please leave me alone."

With that I turned to the counter, my heart pounding in my chest. I ordered my coffee, trying to steady my breathing. When I finally turned back, Nathan was no where around.

I settled in the couch, I reached for my phone to initiate a call with my friends. My friends appeared on the screen.

"Hey, loves." I said

They both responded. Amara smiled. "How did it go?"

"It went well, actually. I think Dad finally came around too."

Amara replied. "Yes. I love that."

Jade added. "Aww, that sounds wonderful."

"Yeah it does," I added. "But that's not all. I had an unexpected run in with Nathan this morning at the cafè."

Jade eyes widened. "Nathan? As in your ex who cheated on you? What did he want?"

I nodded. "He was trying to apologize saying he regretted everything that happened and I should give him a chance to make things right. He had the nerve to act all bitter when I told him I had moved on. He was even saying that if Valentino is better than him."

Amara face turned to anger. "How dare he! After everything he put you through."

Jade chimed in. "Exactly! He has the guts to show himself after what he has done."

Amara added. "I can't believe he had the audacity to approach you. I should have been there, I would have given him a piece of my mind. You deserve so much better and Valentino is a thousand times the man Nathan could ever be."

I smiled.

Jade replied. "Don't let him get to you. He's not worth your time or energy. You have a great guy now, who respects and loves you. Focus on that and let that douche bag fade into the past where he belongs."
