Twelve

I unlocked my apartment and swung open the door in tiredness. It's been a while since I've been here.

I walked to the board that was located against the wall of my living room. It was like a crime scene collage. Everywhere you looked you could see dots being connected.

I lived here until my grandfather's incident since then I've stayed in my old bedroom at his house hoping to maybe find something that will help me through all of this.

I turned on my radio and tied my hair up. "....with his arrest, everyone in the country can rest a little easier tonight..." I sighed heavily at their words.

How was I able to find the hero killer but not the person behind my family's misfortune? I switched the channel and walked to the kitchen to make some coffee.

"...seriously wounded Hero Killer is currently receiving treatment at a hospital under heavy police guard. Officials are awaiting the recovery of several of his victims before further investigating the villain's motives..."

I know for a fact this isn't going to end well. People will despise Stain or they will follow him. Either way, this will be a wake-up call for the events that are soon to come.

I switched the radio once more. "We're talk in' about the criminal who has left his mark on Japan if not the world. The Hero Killer Stain! Why did he do it?..."

"He hoped to accomplish something," I replied aloud.

"What did he hope to gain?"

"It was his method in bringing out who the real heroes are and who are the phonies..." I said to myself.

"Don't be shy, we're taking calls and wanna hear your thoughts."

I turned off the radio and switched on the TV as I sat on the couch with my coffee.

"I'm coming to you live from Eloísa Street in Hosu City. Last night, just after 8:00 pm, the Hero Killer Stain was arrested by Endeavor on this very block..." The sound of my computer chiming interrupted my thoughts.

I turned down the TV and opened my online browser. "What's this?" I pressed the video and a narrator's voice began to speak.

"The Hero Killer Stain. Real name Chizome Akaguro."

'I already knew that'

"As a child, he was greatly inspired by All Might's debut. He enrolled in a private hero high school, but was dismayed by what he viewed as the educational system's skewed understanding of what it meant to be a hero." I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

"Throughout his teenage years, Chizome advocated for a return to the early days of heroes but quickly realized that words had no power. For the next ten years, he trained in killing techniques in order to fulfill his self-appointed duty."

"That explains how he almost kicked my ass." I spat out in annoyance stirring my coffee.

"During this time, his parents passed away, in what police eventually ruled as a tragic accident. His focus was on a return to the old days. He believed heroes should not seek compensation."

I raised my eyebrows at the information. So there was a true goal behind his killings after all.

Honestly, why must every villain have such a tragic past? It almost makes me feel bad for the guy in a way...

"...he believed that present-day pros were frauds. Through his violent purges, he hoped society would eventually side with him." My eyes widened at Stain's voice now speaking through the podcast.

"...These streets must run with the blood of hypocrites. Hero! I will reclaim that word! Come on. Just try and stop me, you fakes!" The exact thing he had said to us.

"There is only one man I'll let kill me. He is a true hero. All Might is worthy!"

How is this even being aired?!

Just as I tried to open the comments, the video had a line run through it saying it was no longer available.

I pulled out my cell phone and sent a text. Everything about this situation doesn't sit well with me but I have more to worry about.

Ever since my run-in with All Might, I've become distracted. I hadn't realized until now, but I can't help but be glad that I did because now I have more suspects to look at.

Including this upcoming group called the League of Villains.
