August 5th

Matt and I left New York last Friday and haven't spoken since. The six hour flight was long with us giving each other silent treatment. I don't know why he's not talking to me, I'm not the one who declared we were packing up and moving

It's been four days of silence and the only time we've said anything has been at home and around Cody, we may not be speaking, but I'll be damned if we can't co parent with our son.

I think this four day streak has been the longest we've been through, normally we talk things out, but now it's different.

Matt walked into my office, holding flowers. Pity flowers, should I say.

"I know you want nothing to do with me right now and I know these won't change that, but I'm hoping you'll change your mind and come tonight" he settled the roses on my desk and I looked at him.

He has an event tonight, one of the many he would like me to go with him to. Yesterday, I told him I wasn't going, mainly because we weren't speaking, but I changed my mind because I didn't want to let him down.

I tilted my head to the side. "My dress is upstairs" I told him, having no desire to go into detail. I want to finish work, put the dress on and get this over with.

"Do we have a babysitter for Cody?"

I rolled my eyes at him. "No, I just thought I'd leave him unsupervised by the security guard by our penthouse door" I said sarcastically, bothered by his question.

Matt took a deep breath and let it out again. "Who's watching him?"

"Nick, he'll be here soon to pick him up. He's staying at our house before meeting his boyfriend when we get home"

Matt nodded. "Do you need-"

"No, I don't need prompts. Anna gave me the list of people to remember. This isn't my first event...unless you've changed your mind and want to shock me with a new guest?" I asked, watching his eyes crinkle in frustration. "Maybe you have someone from New York flying in to persuade me to move forward?"

Matt just rolled his eyes and walked out of my office.

I can only assume he went to collect Cody from the downstairs daycare before getting ready for the event

Matt and I barely spoke at the event, we didn't cross paths, he stayed on the opposite side of the room talking to people I didn't want to talk to. I didn't want to be here, pretending to be happy when I wasn't.

Mr Chicago, who I met a long time ago, now has a name. Danny. Danny kept me occupied for most of the event. He told me how he was going to be working for Matt in New York and he looked forward to working with me. I was shocked, but I didn't make a scene. I left the event and went home.

The event opened my eyes and made me realise maybe Matt didn't change and he was still the same person he was before Cody was born.

Matt noticed me in the living room, sitting on the couch with a book in my hand, keeping me occupied for the last hour I've been home with Cody and our dog, Trevor.

He looked at me, wanting my attention. I ignored him and kept my eyes on the book.

"Are we going to talk to each other or just keep ignoring each other?"

I raised my eyebrow and looked at him, taking note of him running his fingers through his hair. "What do you want to talk about? You make the decisions on your own"

"Is this how we're going to be?"

I put the book down and narrowed my eyes at him. "When I asked you if you had anything else to tell me, you lied" I said softly, not in the mood to raise my voice. "You lied to me as your business partner and as your wife. So you tell me, is this how we're going to be?" I asked, gesturing to the both of us. "Living two separate lives and lying to each other? This isn't what I signed up for"
