Matt's POV
I feel trapped, lost inside myself with every minute passing. It's how I felt before waking up while I was in some universe that held me hostage and now I'm awake, I felt the same. I don't know what transpired and what was a figment of my imagination.
When Y/N isn't here, I can't help but flashback to the day, the day that put me into the position I'm in.
Flashback
I look at the time on my phone, biting my lip as I tap my foot against the floor of the car. I didn't mean to be late meeting Y/N, but of course, my meeting ran late. I hate over the phone conferences where the client is at the other side of the world. I grabbed the roses from the seat, stopping them from sliding on to the floor. Logan's driver apologised for the sudden turn and I gave him a nod, looking back at my phone. The driver rounded another corner and I looked up to see him glaring in the mirror. "Sorry, sir...this car is tailing me" he said, focusing back on the road as I turn my head to look out, seeing a black car. I gave Nate my driver so he could take care of business and Logan wanted my assistance so he exchanged me his driver for my assistance. I gave him thirty minutes of my time to help a client of his.
"Sir, this car is following us, what should I do" He asked and I frowned. I've never had someone follow my car, I thought that just happened in movies.
"Uh...just keep going" I said, not too concerned about the car. It's probably teenagers. "Do what you need to do" I said, looking back at my phone. Y/N's messages coming in all at once. Damn shitty service.
I started responding to her message, letting her know I was on the way, but before I hit send, my world came crashing down on me.
The phone slipped out of my hand as a blow to the side of the door catches me off guard. I watched my phone fall to the floor as my belt pulls back on my chest, locking me against the seats as the car revolves and everything goes black.
I opened my eyes, hearing a familiar voice mutter curse words.
I know his face, but I can't put the name to him, I know the touch, but I don't know where from.
Everything around me felt raw, my body feels like it's lying on a bed of nails while my head is pounded with a heavy object. I can feel shreds of glass piercing into my hand. My eyes focused on the shadow over me, but I can't figure out who it is because my vision goes blurry.
"It's not him, fuck" I heard a guy say. "Is he alive?" The voice asked, looking at me again, blinking at me as I struggled to keep my eyes open. I felt a cold touch to my neck. "Barely, let's go" the guy muttered and I internally beg him not to leave.
"Please don't go, don't leave me to die alone"
I tilt my head to the side, watching the three guys walking away, passing the destroyed car I was in. "Don't go" I coughed, feeling my throat tighten as I took another breath. One guy stopped and stared at me, before marching back to me.
I know him, but I can't figure out how. I can barely move my body.
"Don't go?" He mocked my voice. "Sorry, Matt....any last words before you die slowly?" He asked, smirking, almost like my death is amusing.
"Tell..." I started, struggling to find my words and breath. "Y/N...I love.." I coughed, my body aching as I tried to speak.
"Oh, Y/N, sure" the guy rolled his eyes and scoffed, reaching for my hand, taking off my wedding ring and my wedding band. "Anything for you" he mumbled before throwing them on the ground.
He stepped away from me, adjusting his jacket and stared at me with no remorse, before walking back to the other guys, leaving me in the dirt.
It takes everything in me to move my arm towards my wedding band, my fingers falling short.
