Chapter 3
"Now what are we gonna do?" asked Ethan with a distracted face. The room was full of disappointments and desperate minds.
"We have to find Kara," Gabriel spoke.
"Of course, we have to find her, or else we are going to be executed in 10 days,” Ethan said impatiently, “I am asking you how.”
“I don’t know,” said Gabriel with a guilty voice.
“You don’t know? Come on. You were the one close to Kara in all these times. Don’t you even have a hint?” said Ethan.
“Look, Ethan. If I do, I won’t be sitting desperately here and listen to your shouting. Ok? So give me a break. Let us think,” Gabriel replied.
“Gabriel is right. There is no use of shouting here. I think we need to talk with the magicians. At least, they get a signal from the necklace a few days ago so we might be able to track it down,” John Arthur suggested.
“You’re right. I will go,” said Ethan.
“No, I will go. You stay here and watch over Gabriel,” said John.
“What! No! I mean come on, I know how to handle my father well.”
“I don’t think so. If you go, you’ll end up fighting with him. You just said we don’t have time and we really don’t. If you wanna stay alive, then do as I say,” John yelled at him. Then he turned to Gabriel, “I’ll be leaving at midnight.”
“No, you can’t. It’s too dangerous. Pegason is already attacking us. We don’t know what he will do to you if he knows you are going,” Gabriel said worriedly.
“Then we’ll have to make it quite. Keep this between as four and never speak out till I get back. You hear me, Ethan? Not even to your lovely ladies.”
“Man, they don’t speak out secrets, don’t worry.”
“Isn’t it safer if you don’t tell them first?”
“But, you know it’s hard when you put a little alcohol and see a pretty face, and want to share all your troubles and....”
“Then you don’t go to the pub.”
“What! No way! No way I am doing that! Come on, man. I can’t live without them.”
“Yes, you can. Sir Roger, you are grounded,” said Gabriel, smiling and looking at John.
“Aww.. man. What is wrong with you people? Now my babies are gonna miss me. Damn it!” he angrily walked out of the room, slamming the door.
John looked at his father, Sir George Arthur. He was silent; he wasn’t in the discussion and he wasn’t even moving. John walked slowly to him.
“Father, I am leaving tonight.”
“Do whatever you like. That’s not my business,” he suddenly got up from the chair and left the room. John watched him as he went.
“Don’t worry. He’s just confused at this moment. So, hmm..... take care and be back soon,” said Gabriel.
“I will,” John smiled.
(Loud music playing)
“La... da da da da....,” (Thomas humming)
Kara changes the song quickly as she sees Thomas singing along and seems really into it. It’s kinda strange sometimes to tease her but Kara enjoyed it. After all in her mind, they really have become good friends.
“So tell me. What are you doing this Sunday?” asked Thomas to Kara.
“Nothing. I’ll be at home all day. You?”
“Well, I’m thinking about going to the church, you know. I feel like doing some good deed. You wanna join?”
Kara laughed, “You are not serious, are you?”
“Girl, I’m very serious. I’ve never been more serious than this time. What? You don’t wanna come with me?”
“No, I mean it’s just so sudden that you come up with this idea. It’s just so not you, Mas,” Kara looked at her, amazed. And yes. She now uses her nickname; ‘Mas’ though she doesn’t know what it means. Anyway, it’s good to stick up to the name she likes to be called. Kara doesn’t want to upset her first and the newest best friend.
“I’ve never been me the whole time. Who cares anyway?”
“Pardon?”
“Forget it. Here we’re,” Thomas pointed a restaurant to Kara. As she saw a free lot, she parked her car and stopped the engine.
“Diana’s Dining. I don’t like this name very much though. Why do they name their restaurant after a dead princess? It sounds to me like they are going to end up wicked, too,” Thomas smirked. Kara didn’t care her as she got out of the car and walked straight to the restaurant.
She took a few steps and then she realized that Thomas is not following her.
“Mas, are you coming?” she yelled out to her. But Thomas was holding the car door really hard, and the other hand holding her head. Her face was full of pain and as she groaned from her bad headache, she knelt down, with one of her hand striking the ground many times.
“Oh my god. Mas! Thomas! Are you ok? What’s going on?” Kara hurriedly ran to her and held her in her arms.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m fine,” said Thomas trying to get up. She looked like she recovered a little. But as Kara helped her up, she groaned and fell down again.
“Mas, I think you need to go to the hospital. Did you eat or do anything that could make you sick? Can you remember?”
“Look. I know what’s happening to me. Kara, you have the necklace I gave to you?”
“ Yes,” Kara answered confusingly.
“Great. Get in the car. We need to go to the church right now,” Thomas yelled.
“What! What are you talking about? Why the church?”
“Just get in,” Thomas pulled Kara into the car and she recklessly drove away. Wind started to blow hard and the sky darkened as their car drove through the highway.
“What’s going on?” Kara exclaimed.
“Thomas, I don’t think we should be going to the church right now. The weather looks strange. It looks like a storm is coming.”
“Yes, a storm is coming not only here. Don’t worry, Kara. As we get to the church, everything will be all right.”
“But I don’t understand.”
“You don’t need to. Just keep quiet and don’t disturb me, ok?”
Kara was surprised by Thomas’s reaction, but she didn’t really know what to do. She couldn’t just jump out of the car and run. At this point, she didn’t know what is going on and it just felt safe for her to stay with at least a person she knew.
As they reached to the church, Thomas stopped the car quickly and pulled Kara out. She ran into the church, holding her hand really tight.
“Remember. When we get inside, you go straight to the praying room and sit there. And don’t look back.”
“What about you?”
“I have things to do. You, do as I say!”
Kara was afraid of Thomas. As they reached the entrance, she ran straight to the praying room, not looking back. Then she heard a noise behind her. As she turned back to check She saw a big tornado, coming her direction but there wasn’t a sign of Thomas. She didn’t know where that thing came from. It was pretty windy when they get inside the church but not strong enough to become a tornado.
She turned forward and ran at her quickest rate to the praying room. But it was too late. In a few seconds, she also has disappeared.
All of a sudden, everything was back to normal. Nothing seemed to be destroyed by the tornado. The wind, the sky, the trees were all normal. And the church stood still at its place. However, there was no sign of the two girls. They have vanished with the wind.
