chapter one- Introduction

'Okay there's a gap between the second baseman and shortstop the centre fielder is playing back so aim your hips and square the ball' i think to myself.

'wait for your pitch Dev your team is counting on you' the girl throws me a fastball down the middle, what she doesn't know i eat those up and i square it so it's too far for the second baseman and too short for the centre fielder to reach.

"DEV GO TWO" my first base coach yells, so i listen but then i feel something crack and break in my knee rounding second and I drop "AGH" i scream in pain holding my knee. My teammates come running over "oh shit" my best friend Charlise says helping me up "don't look down dev" my coach says carrying me to the doctor.

i finally get back to the clubhouse still in pain,
i can't walk on my knee and it's hard to feel it. "Almost there babe" Charlise says she puts me down on the table and stays with me "Char they need you." i say pain in my voice "are you fucking out of your mind i'm not leaving you" she responds pulling up a chair next to me.

a few minutes later the doctor comes and does some tests and a MRI. "I'm so sorry ms Castro, you have torn your ACL" he says i cover my face in stress "fucks sake" i say knowing my season is over.

The doctor is saying something but all i hear is a loud ringing and my breath slowly getting louder and louder until it starts to stop.

I cant stop thinking about that day, what if I had not tried for two maybe if I was happy with a single my whole life would have been fine.

since then I have never been the same. Not only with physical scars but mental ones as-well.

I'm living my worst nightmare.

"Hey Dev" Aaron walks over before the game "Hey Judgy" i say putting my camera together to get some content before the game.

"Where is Jen is she coming to tomorrow's game?" i ask "Yea she's on her way now, she's meeting me here before they open the doors" he responds "okay great tell her to come and find me or i might just go with her to watch."
He smiles and nods walking away.

"Devinity i need you" my boss says walking onto the field i follow close behind.
"yes Mr. Martin?" i ask.
"i'm going to need you to run a profile on a new player, we just got him in from The San Diego Padres He'll be in tomorrow."

The Yankees are opening The season With A game against the Toronto blue jays, my home team and my favourite/ wife/ best friend Charlise springer is coming to town with her husband George.

"Yes sir" i smile and walk off the field into the clubhouse.
