Jay's POV
Jay couldn't believe his eyes. A gorgeous looking feline human was staring up at him, his big brown boba eyes not blinking when Jay did. There was a mix of shock and confusion in the shorter's eyes, like he knew something was off.
And Jay knew what it was. But they weren't going to talk about it...yet.
"J-Jungwon, hi," he tried, stepping an inch closer to the latter, who didn't budge. Jungwon blinked out of his trance, and bit his lip, before responding, "h-hey..."
He looked away right after saying it, and Jay could hear the sound of his heart breaking slightly.
He won't even look at me anymore...I mean you deserved it idiot, you freaking dumped him on the fucking streets! Jay groaned softly, running a hair through his dark brown hair. At this, Jungwon glanced at him again, peeking from behind his light brown bangs.
Ahh! Cute-omg stop no stop you can't do that after what you did! Jay mentally slapped himself and found the courage to say something else.
"How have you been?" Jay asked, and Jungwon gave him what Jay thought was a frown. Jay gulped down slowly when Jungwon took his time to answer.
Freak you, Jay, now he thinks you're being selfish. OF COURSE HE'S NOT OKAY AGAIN YOU DUMPED HIM ON THE STREETS AND LEFT HIM CRYING AND EMBARRASSING HIMSELF WHILE BREAKING HIS HEART-
"I'm fine," Jungwon broke Jay's internal chain of thoughts, forcing the taller to snap out of it. He blinked when that's all Jungwon said, and rubbed the back of his neck at how awkward it was.
"Uh, oh that's great," Jay mumbled, looking away and biting down on his lip.
Jungwon didn't say anything except examine Jay, his eyes scanning the latter from head to toe. Jay almost blushed realising Jungwon could be checking him out, but doubted that when the shorter raised an eyebrow.
"So where's your wife?"
The sound of stabbing went through Jay's heart.
There it was. The question made him hitch a breath and flinch, even though he knew it was coming."Jungwon.."
"Where is she? Aren't you guys supposed to be happily together? Wasn't it for the best?" Jungwon threw at Jay, each question piercing his already wounded heart.
Jungwon was huffing slightly, his eyebrows now knitted together while he glared at Jay. A fire lit in those innocent cat eyes. If it wasn't because of Jay, the taller would have admired Jungwon's strong stance, and would have looked at him in awe.
Jongseong I swear, this is not the time for that. Jay heaved in a breath and slowly approached Jungwon, but the latter backed away with each step. "Jungwon, let me explain.."
Jungwon shook his head, not letting Jay speak. "No. You left me for her. You even said so yourself: 'Let's not contact each other anymore, it's for the best,'" he quoted, and Jay took in a slow breath to control his heart from breaking.
"I know..but it was for a reason," Jay whispered softly, loud enough for only Jungwon to hear. Both of them stopped moving, and just stared into each other's eyes. Jungwon's eyebrows gradually went back to its original place, and his shoulders loosened, now only curiousity filling his gaze.
"A..reason?"
Jay was about to quickly explain when he heard a sickingly sweet voice coo, "There you are, hubby!"
Everything stilled around Jay. His breath slowed as he turned slowly turned to his right, where a lady wearing a bun in her hair, petite and pretty looking, started clinging onto his arm.
