Dear Yunho-ya, happy 18th birthday! I'm not good at writing letters so I'll try my best. We've been friends for two months only, but it feels like I've known you for years, I wonder if you feel the same too. I really want to thank you for all the times you've supported me. You're the nicest, sweetest, kindest person I've ever met, and I wish I was as good looking as you. In other words, I really admire you. I'm working on some lyrics for my next song, so since it's your birthday, I'll share them with you:

As if each day were my last I dance
Like the pouring light,
I just want to shine
While looking up at the starry night,
I want to lean on you
Smile brightly when you look my way

Yeah that's all >< it's inspired by you, actually. Sorry if that sounds creepy.
Anyway, happy birthday❤️❤️ I can't wait to make more happy memories with you!

From, mingi •3•

Horizon High School is holding a performing arts carnival to celebrate students' creative talents and achievements. Posters made by the student council are put up around the school to encourage students to participate, from activity booths and stage performances, to auditions held by the various extra curricular activity groups.

"Mingi-ya, have you thought about doing a live performance for your song with jongho?" Hongjoong asks as they're looking at one of the posters.

Mingi sighs. He has thought about it, but he cannot decide if he's ready. "Would people even show up...?"

"Of course they will! It'll be the highlight of the musical stage 'cause there's no way we're beating wooyoung and his dance club. You can represent the school band then, it'll be awesome!"

"It does sound pretty cool. I'll check with the others if they're okay with it."

And that's how mingi ends up back at the studio preparing a backing track for the performance. Sera, Jongho and Yunho are sitting in a circle practising their lines, while hongjoong makes a list of equipment that they will need for the stage. All of them cannot believe what they're about to get themselves into.

"We're gonna be on stage, everyone's gonna be watching, what if my voice cracks??" Sera, who is the most nervous, says.

"All eyes are gonna be on my girl, you're gonna make me so proud, won't you?" Jongho teases. He always flirts like that.

"Don't worry Sera, the backing track is there for a reason. We'll get through this." Yunho reassures.

Mingi smiles at Yunho's words. He glances over at Yunho's phone on the table next to him, where Yunho put one of the sunset polaroid pictures in his phone case. He must've really liked that one, mingi thinks.

The group work for hours each day leading up to the carnival, rehearsing over an over again till late at night. Plus, on top of the performance, they have to balance their school work. It's not even a competition, they just want to put on the greatest show ever.

On D-day, mingi walks into the school at 7am, taking in all the preparations made the evening before; streamers dangling from the ceilings and little booths for activities or food set up here and there. He heads straight for the signs pointing upstairs to the performing stage hall. There, students from the dance club are already rehearsing.

"Wooyoung!" He calls out, waving at hongjoong's brother. Wooyoung hops down the stage to greet him. "How's rehearsal? I saw a little bit of what you're gonna perform later."
