As the school terms comes to an end, the students receive their overall grades for the exams. Hongjoong, mingi, yunho and seonghwa all do very well, and they celebrate with a dinner at mingi's family restaurant. Since they came out, the four of them go for double dates as often as they can, from rock climbing to baking classes, anything to spend time together.
Mingi and Yunho are also working on a new song, just the both of them. They combine words that they've said to each other into the lyrics, and spend hours in Yunho's bedroom drafting the song. Bit by bit, they record the song in the school recording studio, with the help of hongjoong to direct them.
They finish producing the song just before summer vacation begins in early July. Yunho also starts making birthday preparations for mingi.
. . .
"I don't need a big party, I just want the four of us, and jongho, wooyoung, sera and my immediate family." Mingi insists as they are chilling in Yunho's room.
"Okay, princess." Yunho replies, writing whatever mingi says in his notebook.
"Wait, what did you just call me?"
Yunho looks up innocently. "Princess."
"I- wha- where-"
"Are you not my princess?" Yunho teases, getting mingi all flustered.
"It's just!! You CANNOT let anyone hear that okay? And, I'm calling you puppy from now on." Mingi says with a huff.
"Sure, princess."
Oh gosh, if he says that one more time, I'm gonna-
"Let's go get ice cream down the street!" Yunho says suddenly.
It's 8pm, and mingi's staying overnight at Yunho's place. They put on their shoes and head out the door, hand in hand. Neither of them have gotten used to holding hands in public, especially during the daytime. They're worried about the looks they will receive, or that they might get attacked for doing so. At night, however, they can hold hands comfortably.
It's quite a long walk to the nearest convenience store, but they take their time, talking about their last year in high school, and singing their new song together. They decide that they will perform it during the school's talent show which falls on the first day of school in September. That gives the two plenty of time to practice as well as come up with some simple choreography. They'll ask wooyoung for help.
Yunho gets a chocolate ice cream bar, while mingi gets a mint chocolate one. They sit under the stars, licking their ice cream contentedly.
"Remember the first time I met you, during winter break, where I threw a snowball at you and you threw one back at me?" Mingi asks, nibbling his ice cream bar.
"Mhmm."
"Do you think the universe had that planned for us? I could've tossed the snowball at any stranger, but you happened to walk past at that very moment. It's like they wanted us to meet."
Yunho smiles and ruffles mingi's hair with his free hand. "Perhaps they did, and I'm glad it was me you threw the snowball at. Made me feel like the chosen one for once."
They toss the clean sticks into the trash and continue their walk.
"Mingi-ya, can you promise me that if there's something bothering you, you will tell me?"
"Um...yeah I will, but why the sudden question?"
"I worry, sometimes that you're bottling up your feelings. Like the bullying thing. How long were you going to tolerate it for?"
