Oliver's POV

"I don't understand. I-I just looked at my phone and...! T-This is a misunderstanding!" I plead.

The investigator looks at me with a somber expression. But he talked to me all the same.

"If you don't know anything, would you mind explaining these texts again?" He asks.

"I already told you. I don't know where the hell they came from! All I know is that Dallace should be the main suspect. It's so obvious that he's the most suspicious!"

"We've already interviewed Y/N's fellow relatives. And they have stated that you should be the main suspect. Why do you think that is?"

"Probably because they're senseless people who believe everything "sweet" , baby faced Dallace says to them!" I shriek.

The investigator grows silent and tells me that's the end of our interview for today. On his paper I can see he wrote "mentally unstable", great.

I walk out of the room and two men escort me to another plain looking room. I sit down at the only desk there as one of the men had instructed. I sit across from the one and only Dallace. I don't look him in the eye because it'd only make me want to punch him.

"I requested to talk to you as you probably already know. It was a struggle to convince them to allow us to be in the same room. But I'm glad I'm here." Dallace says to me.

I avoid eye contact by staring at the floor. I don't say anything to him. Not because I was afraid, but because I didn't want to seem crazy when I really wasn't.

"I just wanted to speak to you so I could ask some questions. Questions that are... a bit specific. But, I just want them to be answered." Dallace said in a hushed voice.

He's a good actor. If I didn't know any better I would have believed his act. But seeing as I'm not in the position to, it's easy to hate him. I stay silent again, ignoring his glare that nobody else seems to pay any mind to.

"I believe that this should be confidential. Would you two mind stepping outside?" Dallace says, more like ordering. He said it with such certainty as he turned toward the two men who lead me here.

For some miracle, the two men just nod and leave. I finally look at Dallace in the eyes. It was as if his eyes were dead. My eyes widened at the sight. But he only smirked at my discomfort.

"Now, why don't we get started?" Dallace says. "You and Y/N are just... friends, right?"

"Yes! T-that's how it's always been I-!" I stumble with my words profusely as Dallace's figure watches me.

"Really? So... you never liked Y/N? Romantically?"

"W-what!? No! You're dating her! How could I!?"

"You're lying to me."

I stare at him in disbelief. What is he saying?

"I'm... not?"

"Then tell me what you were doing at 9:54pm 22 days ago in your hotel. On the phone with your little friend Trevor. Talking very casually about my darling. Uttering her name in your mouth. And not only that. You started saying ridiculous things like how you... you like her!? Are you downright insane!?" Dallace screams at me.

"How did you..."

I stare at Dallace with pure shock. How could he have possibly known that... I was in a whole other country!? Did he track everything I do on my phone? Or... or even follow me all the way there!? But why would he go to those lengths? I've only known Y/N for not even over 2 months let alone have considered her my friend in that short time!?

"Then, 25 days ago. The day before you went on your little trip. You told her that you two would soon go on yearly trips together!? Are you..." Dallace exhales deeply. "I'm trying exceedingly hard to not hurt you quite yet. But your annoying face is making this pretty difficult."

"I..."

"I'm done here. Honestly I think I've gotten my point across. Fortunately for you, you only have to be alive for awhile longer. Well, that's honestly very beneficial for me, but if I were you. I'd be honored for the time."

Dallace stands up and calls for two people. The two men come into the room once again. I can only stare at Dallace in awe, trying to fit these puzzle pieces into my head. The two men grab me and basically drag me out of the room. They aggressively take me down many steps of stairs.

After tons of dragging I get thrown into a white room type of cell. It was kind of small and there were other exact compartments such as mine. I look around more after they put on a lock and leave me alone. I see tons of dead rotting corpses all around in their own cells. I can only see one other person in the one across from mine who seems to be... alive?

I'm not sure if that's true as they seem horribly unstable. I stare at them as I slowly back away from the area. I huddle up into a ball and cover my face. Not wanting to take in the sight before me any longer.

"He's going to kill us." The fraile woman whispers.

I look up at her, afraid. She had pale white skin, thin black hair, and dead blue eyes that seemed to droop. She had a shredded white dress that almost matched her skin if it weren't for the dirt splotches all over it.

"What...?"

"Dallace... he's going to kill us. I've been here only an hour... I think. I'm not so sure to be honest with you. Not long though."

I start to tear up as I really take in the world around me.

"What is this place? What... what's going on?" I breathe heavily in panic.

"You're... a human." She says, her eyes settling in realization. "So you don't know about Dallace, huh?"

"N-No! He just... he blamed me after he was clearly so guilty! Everyone knew but after just a second I was the-the crazy one? I just don't..." I stop as my eyes widen and I look at the lady. I hadn't noticed her skin, it had scales. "Did you say... I-I'm a human?"

"Yeah well, look mortal. My whole family's suffered from his little anger issues. It's no doubt I'm here. You... well he's just upset you got close to Y/N, am I right? Usually humans don't last much around here since Dallace wants to torture them beforehand. Most us living entities last a couple days. That's kinda why I know all this stuff. We were told to not mess with his little Y/N or we'd never see the end of it."

"W-what!?"

A door opens fiercely and a man almost identical to the other two, enters my cell. I look at him in horror as I notice the high tech weapons in his hands that's glowing with blue particles. He comes towards me at full force, and before I can react. His blade slashes right through me in an instant.

A lot to unpack in this chapter, it might be confusing so let me recap. Basically, Dallace might not be human if you haven't already guessed. This has something to do with the red streak on his hair and he seems to be some kind of entity?? But if so, what? Well, I don't want to entirely spoil anything but you'll find out soon enough!
