Chapter 3: Graduation (Part 2)

Day after day passed, month after month passed, until finally the time for graduation for the training students came. In the evening, we were gathered at the training camp center, the graduation announcements began

"Shinzou wo sasageyo!" said the chief training instructor

All students get into position"Yes, sir!" said the students in unison

"I will announce, for the students who graduate today, there are three choices open before you. "You can be stationed on the walls and defend the city as members of the garrison, or you can risk your lives in Titan-infested areas as members of the survey corps, or you can serve the king by maintaining order among the people as members of the military police," said the training instructor.

"Of course, only graduates who are in the top ten are allowed to join the military police!" said the training instructor

The top ten ranked in front of the other graduates, I was one of them, namely number 2 after Mikasa, unfortunately I lost to this charcoal woman, really annoying, but what can I do. Graduation night passed and the new graduates who now served as troop cadets celebrated their graduation with a party facilitated by the training camp to celebrate their graduation, well at least the grumpy parents were kind enough to congratulate us with this party. I saw several people gathered around Eren's gang, I was interested in joining in and listening to what they were talking about.

"You don't want to join Eren's military police? Are you serious? Even though you are in the top ten," said Thomas, surprised by Eren's decision

"From the start I was fixated on my goal, I trained not to live comfortably in the inner city. "From the start my goal was to fight the titans," said Eren

"But, you can't possibly win Eren!" Thomas replied in a loud voice that attracted the attention of other people

"You yourself also know... how much have they eaten up to now? We have lost twenty percent of our population.....humanity cannot defeat titans..." Thomas said resignedly to Eren

Silence appeared for a moment, I understood, really understood why Thomas said that. The fear that continues to haunt the residents and defense forces, the number and strength of the titans is truly beyond human understanding, it makes sense for people to think that.

"So what? Since you don't think we can win, you're just going to give up?" Eren said

"It is true. So far we have always lost, that's because we don't know anything about them. We cannot defeat them with numbers alone. Even though we lost, the information we got from that battle is the light of our hope! But instead we throw away the results obtained with hundreds of thousands of sacrifices just to become their food?" said Eren

People could only be pensive and silent when they heard Eren's words, well what he said wasn't wrong. All this time, what has this Titan Extermination Army been there for? And what is the purpose of forming this army? If this army was formed only to live in comfort and security or to gain power, what is the point of joining an organization that has no directed goals, only creating a weak generation that will remain as food for titans until the human population is extinct.

"Then, what do you want to do Eren?" I asked Eren

"I...I will eradicate them until there's nothing left, and free us from these walls, that's my dream!" Eren said
